Paul Konerko (White Sox)

5/15/12 4:57 pm

Paul Konerko had three hits, including his seventh homer, against the Tigers on Tuesday.

Konerko was hitting just .239 with one extra-base hit in 46 at-bats this month. He has hit three of his seven homers this season versus Detroit.

A.J. Pierzynski (White Sox)

5/15/12 4:55 pm

A.J. Pierzynski went 5-for-5 and knocked in three runs against the Tigers on Tuesday.

Pierzynski upped his average from .257 to .288 with the performance. He got off to a nice start last month, but going into today, he hadn’t had a multihit game since April 25.

Adam Dunn (White Sox)

5/15/12 11:23 am

White Sox manager Robin Ventura said that Adam Dunn will play left field in all three games against the Cubs this weekend.

Dunn is an obviously liability on defense, but the White Sox can’t afford to keep his potent bat out of the lineup. The resurgent slugger has 12 homers, 28 RBI and a 1.003 OPS through his first 36 games this year. It would be pretty nice if he gets his outfield eligibility back.

Eric Stults (White Sox)

5/15/12 9:54 am

White Sox designated LHP Eric Stults for assignment.

He was cleared to make room for Jesse Crain’s return from the disabled list. Stults allowed two runs over 6 2/3 innings in a spot start and a relief appearance during his brief stay with the big club. There’s a good chance he slips through waivers unclaimed.

Jesse Crain (White Sox)

5/15/12 9:36 am

White Sox activated RHP Jesse Crain from the 15-day disabled list.

Crain, 30, has been on the shelf since late-April with a right oblique strain. He rejoins the White Sox bullpen with a 2.57 ERA and 10/1 K/BB ratio over seven innings.

Jesse Crain (White Sox)

5/14/12 11:30 pm

Jesse Crain (oblique) is expected to be activated from the disabled list Tuesday.

Crain was given the day off Monday after tossing a pair of scoreless rehab appearances with Triple-A Charlotte over the weekend. The 30-year-old right-hander has been on the shelf since late-April with a right oblique strain. He had a 2.57 ERA and 10/1 K/BB ratio in seven innings prior to the injury.

Dayan Viciedo (White Sox)

5/14/12 10:40 pm

Dayan Viciedo went 2-for-4 with a homer, a run scored and a career-high four RBI in a 7-5 win over the Tigers on Monday night.

Viciedo connected for a two-run blast off Drew Smyly in the bottom of the fifth and added a two-run single in the very next inning. It was his first multi-hit game since April 29 and his first home run since April 26. With a measly .210/.239/.343 batting line to go along with an ugly 31/3 K/BB ratio, he’ll need to do a lot better before becoming a legitimate consideration in mixed leagues.

John Danks (White Sox)

5/14/12 10:39 pm

John Danks was smoked for five runs over three innings Monday as part of a no-decision against the Tigers.

Danks was solid in his last start, but he was back to his old ways in this one, giving up nine hits and three walks while throwing just 42 out of 80 pitches for strikes. He also hit a batter. Fortunately for him, the White Sox offense bailed him out. Assuming Danks isn’t pitching with an injury, we believe he’ll get back on track sooner or later, but he’s far too erratic to trust in mixed leagues right now.

Hector Santiago (White Sox)

5/14/12 10:30 pm

Hector Santiago tossed a scoreless seventh inning in Monday’s win over the Tigers.

Santiago was followed by Matt Thornton and Addison Reed, who picked up his third career save. White Sox manager Robin Ventura said he plans to go with a committee of Santiago, Thornton and Reed in the ninth, but Reed is probably the best bet of the bunch.

Jesse Crain (White Sox)

5/14/12 8:02 am

Jesse Crain (oblique) tossed a scoreless inning Sunday in his second rehab appearance at Triple-A Charlotte.

If he wakes up feeling fine on Monday, Crain should be immediately cleared to return to the White Sox bullpen. The 30-year-old setup man has been on the disabled list since late-April with a right oblique strain.
