Ubaldo Jimenez allowed three runs on five hits and two walks in six innings of work on Wednesday, improving to 4-3 in Cleveland’s 9-3 win over the Mariners.

Jimenez struck out four, walked two and served up a two-run homer to Dustin Ackley in one of his less-eventful starts of the season. The quality start was just his fourth in eight outings. Both Jimenez’s velocity and results have proven impossible to predict on a start-to-start basis, so there’s no telling what kind of outing he may have next Tuesday against the Tigers.

Ubaldo Jimenez was rocked by the Red Sox on Friday, giving up seven runs on nine hits in just 4 1/3 innings of work.

Jimenez also walked five and struck out four in the game. He falls to 3-3 on the season, with an unremarkable 5.18 ERA. He’s been wildly inconsistent and needs to perform better if the Indians want to have a serious shot at competing in the AL Central. He’ll try to get back on track when he takes on the Mariners on Wednesday.

The good Ubaldo Jimenez showed up in Sunday’s 4-2 win over the Rangers, allowing only two hits in seven scoreless innings of work.

Jimenez did issue five free passes, however, to go along with six strikeouts. The quality start was Jimenez’s first in three outings, though he’s now walked at least five batters in three of his past four starts. Still impossible to predict on a start-to-start basis, it would probably be wise to keep Jimenez benched against the Red Sox in Boston on Friday.

Ubaldo Jimenez is working on adjusting a mechanical flaw with his left shoulder.

Jimenez’s left shoulder has been dropping before he delivers to the plate more than it had in the past. “It’s not only [about velocity],” Jimenez said. “It’s trying to get myself in a better position to deliver the ball. That’s something I haven’t been doing. My front shoulder has been too open, so I’m trying to work on creating torque and power out of it. That’s something I did before.” Ubaldo holds a 4.50 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 13/14 K/BB ratio, so it couldn’t hurt to tweak things.

Ubaldo Jimenez’s struggles continued in Wednesday’s loss to the Royals, as Cleveland’s would-be ace allowed four runs on six hits and three walks in six innings.

Jimenez served up two home runs in walking at least three batters for the fourth straight start to begin the year. Through 24 innings, he’s now the owner of a 4.50 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 13/14 K/BB ratio. Simply not the same pitcher he was during his dominant 2010 campaign, Jimenez won’t ever pitch like the ace the Indians acquired him to be if he can’t get his average fastball back up into the mid-90s.

Ubaldo Jimenez held the A’s to two runs in six innings to win Friday night.

The A’s racked up six hits and five walks off Jimenez, but they couldn’t deliver the knockout blow. With wins over the Royals and now the Indians, Jimenez is now 2-0 with a 4.00 ERA this season. We’re not too optimistic he’ll manage to keep it up.

Ubaldo Jimenez picked up a rocky win in Sunday’s 13-7 victory over the Royals, allowing four runs on nine hits and three walks in just five innings of work.

Jimenez had little idea where the ball was going, laboring his way to 112 pitches. The good news is, his velocity appeared to be up, which will be absolutely critical if he’s looking to turn in a successful first full campaign with the Tribe. He has a favorable matchup lined up for the weekend, where he’ll get the A’s in Oakland.

Ubaldo Jimenez’s scheduled Saturday start against the Royals has been pushed back to Sunday.

Blame the weather. Jimenez was originally set to return from his five-game suspension Saturday, but had his ban, and therefore his start, pushed back a day thanks to Tuesday’s rainout against the White Sox. He’ll oppose Royals righty Luis Mendoza.

Ubaldo Jimenez dropped the appeal of his 5-game suspension and will begin serving it on Sunday.

Jimenez was handed the suspension for beaning former teammate Troy Tulowitzki in a spring training game last week. His next start will be pushed back until Saturday at Kansas City.

Ubaldo Jimenez carried a no-hitter through 6 2/3 innings Saturday against the Blue Jays.

Brett Lawrie broke up the no-hitter with a two-run single which tied the game. Jimenez didn’t allow his first baserunner until walking Colby Rasmus with two outs in the sixth. The two-run single in the seventh was set up by two walks and a wild pitch. Jimenez struck out three and threw 55 out of 95 pitches for strikes. He is expected to drop his appeal for his five-game suspension, so his next start won’t be until next Saturday against the Royals.
