Ben Revere (Twins)

5/16/12 10:21 pm

The Twins are planning to recall outfielder Ben Revere before Thursday’s game against the Tigers.

Revere will serve as depth in the Minnesota outfield while Ryan Doumit recovers from a calf strain. The 24-year-old speedster is doubtful to carry any fantasy value.

Ryan Doumit (Twins)

5/16/12 10:20 pm

Twins placed C Ryan Doumit on the 15-day disabled list with a right calf strain.

Douit suffered the injury during Wednesday’s victory over the Tigers. He is likely to need around three weeks of recovery time, meaning Drew Butera should be much more active than usual for the rest of May. Doumit is batting .264/.328/.445 with five home runs and 24 RBI in 33 games this year.

Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said there is a good chance Ryan Doumit will be placed on the disabled list after he left Wednesday’s game with a calf injury.

It’s a shame, as Doumit had really started heating up at the plate and had two hits and an RBI before exiting. Joe Mauer would figure to see more time behind the plate if Doumit is indeed DL-bound, but, unfortunately, it could also mean more playing time for Drew Butera.

Brian Dozier (Twins)

5/16/12 9:41 pm

Brian Dozier hit his second home run of the season in Wednesday’s 11-7 victory over the Tigers.

Dozier is now batting .286 with a decent .794 OPS through the first 10 games of his major league career. He wasn’t much of a hitter in the minor leagues, however, and is doubtful to maintain the production. The 25-year-old shortstop can remain ignored in most fantasy formats.

Nick Blackburn (Twins)

5/16/12 9:39 pm

Nick Blackburn was shelled for six runs in just two innings Wednesday in a no-decision against the Tigers.

Blackburn had nothing, and the Tigers jumped all over him. The right-hander walked two, struck out two and surrendered six hits while making it to just 53 pitches. He’ll carry a hideous 8.37 ERA and 1.77 WHIP into his next outing against the White Sox.

Denard Span (Twins)

5/16/12 4:56 pm

Denard Span has been scratched from Wednesday’s starting lineup due to tightness in his right hamstring.

Span missed Tuesday’s game with the same ailment. Erik Komatsu is playing center field and batting leadoff on Wednesday night against Tigers righty Rick Porcello.

Chris Parmelee (Twins)

5/16/12 12:31 pm

Twins optioned 1B Chris Parmelee to Triple-A Rochester.

He was cleared to make room for Justin Morneau’s return from the disabled list. Parmelee was given a shot at the starting first base job following a hot September last year, but he has disappointed to the tune of a .179/.250/.262 batting line to go along with zero homers over 92 plate appearances.

Justin Morneau (Twins)

5/16/12 12:28 pm

Twins activated 1B Justin Morneau from the 15-day disabled list.

Morneau spent the minimum 15 days on the disabled list while nursing soreness in his surgically-repaired right wrist. He is expected to play first base upon his return. The 31-year-old owns a .230/.313/.459 batting line to go along with four home runs and nine RBI over 83 plate appearances this season.

Jason Marquis (Twins)

5/15/12 3:41 pm

Jason Marquis struggled through five innings against the Indians on Tuesday, surrendering five runs and three homers.

Marquis gave up two runs in four innings before Shin-Soo Choo, Asdrubal Cabrera and Carlos Santana all hit solo homers in the fifth. Marquis is now 2-3 with a 6.68 ERA for the season. It was a surprise when an AL team signed him over the winter, and it certainly hasn’t paid off for the Twins thus far.

Chris Parmelee (Twins)

5/15/12 3:05 pm

Chris Parmelee will be optioned down to Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday.

He’ll be cleared to make room for Jusitn Morneau’s return from the disabled list. Parmelee was given the starting first base job out of spring training, but he’s hitting just .179/.250/.262 with zero homers over 84 at-bats this season.
