Tim Lincecum was hammered by the Brewers on Sunday, surrendering six runs on eight hits over just 4 2/3 innings.

The Giant ace added a walk and four strikeouts. Being Tim Lincecum, he earns a pass on this outing. More worrisome is his spring K rate — 16 in 23 2/3 innings — which is well below each of his last four springs. Since his regular season K’s have dipped in each of the past four seasons, it is worth monitoring as the 2012 season begins.

Tim Lincecum allowed two runs on five hits and two walks over five innings against the Angels Tuesday.

He struck out a couple. Lincecum now holds a pedestrian 4.26 ERA this spring, but it’s the third year in a row he hasn’t looked like his dominating self in Cactus League action. Obviously, you don’t need to worried about him.

Lit up for five runs in two innings by the Rockies last Wednesday, Tim Lincecum bounced back in Monday’s 2-1 win over the Royals, allowing just one unearned run on one hit in four innings of work.

He fanned four while walking two. Lincecum is now the owner of a 6.75 ERA and 6/3 K/BB ratio through his first eight Cactus League innings. He struggled last spring before posting a 3.51 ERA across five April starts.

According to CBSSports.com’s Jon Heyman, the Giants offered Tim Lincecum ”at least $100 million” over five years and are $75 million apart on a seven- to eight-year contract extension.

The Giants and Lincecum avoided arbitration by agreeing to a two-year, $40.5 million deal this offseason, but remain far apart in long-term extension talks. Lincecum is set to hit free agency following the 2013 season. Heyman notes that of the Giants’ two star pitchers, Matt Cain ”has been seen as the one more committed to staying and possibly easier to lock up.”

Tim Lincecum was blasted for five runs on seven hits and a walk over just two innings Wednesday against the Rockies.

Charlie Blackmon took Lincecum deep. The Giants bullpen bailed the two-time Cy Young winner out, giving up one run over the next seven frames while the offense rallied. The only other run was surrendered by Eric Surkamp, who went three frames and struck out four.

Tim Lincecum will start and pitch an inning of the Giants’ exhibition opener Saturday against the Diamondbacks.

Lincecum was slowed in camp last week due to back stiffness, but it’s no longer an issue. Nothing surprising here, but Giants manager Bruce Bochy also indicated that Lincecum will get the call on Opening Day against the Diamondbacks on April 6.

Tim Lincecum threw batting practice Monday for the first time this spring.

Lincecum, who was slowed early last week due to back stiffness, rated the session as an 8.5 out of ten. “It wasn’t as sharp as I was hoping,” said Lincecum, in reference to his fastball. “My changeup felt good and my rhythm felt good.” Giants’ manager Bruce Bochy hinted that the ace right-hander could start the club’s exhibition opener Saturday against the Diamondbacks, though he has yet to make an official announcement.

Tim Lincecum (back) threw his scheduled bullpen session Thursday.

Lincecum skipped workouts Tuesday in Giants’ camp due to back stiffness, but he was able to resume normal spring training activities on Wednesday. It shouldn’t be a lingering issue.

Tim Lincecum (back) took part in normal spring training activities Wednesday in Giants camp.

Lincecum, who skipped Tuesday’s workout due to mild back stiffness, stretched with the team on Wednesday afternoon and played catch with teammate Barry Zito. Giants manager Bruce Bochy is expecting the right-handed ace to throw his regularly scheduled bullpen session on Thursday. The back seems like a non-issue.
