Roy Halladay bounced back nicely from his poor start last week, allowing just two runs on seven hits over seven innings in a loss to the Padres on Saturday.

Halladay punched out 10 and walked just one in the game. The loss drops him to 3-3 on the season, though he still sports a solid 3.20 ERA and 46/12 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He?ll look to build on this strong performance when he takes on the Cubs in Chicago on Thursday.

Roy Halladay (personal) returned to the Phillies Friday.

We can squelch rumors that Halladay’s absence was due to some kind of injury. He had a family issue and was back throwing a bullpen session Friday. Halladay is a good bet to bounce back against the Mets Monday.

Roy Halladay has left the Phillies due to a personal family issue.

Halladay was blasted for eight runs in just 5 1/3 innings Wednesday against the Braves, and it’s safe to wonder whether his mind was elsewhere during that start. The Phillies haven’t explained exactly why the 34-year-old is absent, but they’re insisting that he is fully healthy. Halladay will presumably return to the team in time for his next scheduled start.

Roy Halladay turned in one of his worst starts in recent memory on Wednesday, giving up eight runs on 12 hits in just 5 1/3 innings against the Braves.

Halladay was staked to a 6-0 lead in the fifth inning and appeared to be well on his way to picking up an easy victory. But the Braves erupted for six runs on six hits in the fifth inning alone, capped off by a three-run homer from Brian McCann. Halladay came back out for the sixth inning but surrendered two more hits before being lifted for a reliever. The poor outing raises his ERA from 1.95 to 3.40. He’ll look to put this one behind him and get back on track when he takes on the Mets on Monday.

Roy Halladay his normal dominating self against the Cubs on Friday, but still turned in a solid effort allowing just three runs on six hits over seven innings.

Halladay struck out five and walked two in the game. With the loss, Halladay now falls to 3-2 on the season and his ERA jumps all the way up to 1.95. As expected, he’s pitched very well through his first five starts, but he?ll need the Phillies offense to step up and offer more run support. He?ll attempt to continue his dominance when he takes on the Braves in Atlanta next week.

Roy Halladay took his first loss after allowing two runs in seven innings Saturday against the Padres.

Halladay walked three batters in a row for the first time in his career, as Yonder Alonso, Cameron Maybin and Jason Bartlett all worked free passes in the second. That led to one of the two runs, even though Halladay didn’t give up a hit in the inning. Outside of that, Halladay was fine. He walked just one batter over the rest of the outing, and he struck out five. He’s now gone four straight starts without allowing a homer.

Roy Halladay pitched eight innings and allowed two runs Monday in a victory over the Giants.

Halladay seems on cruise control already. He’s 3-0 with a 1.17 ERA, having worked 23 innings over his three starts. He still hasn’t given up a homer this season, and since his next start is in San Diego, odds are that streak will be extended.
