The Rangers haven’t spoken to outfielder Nelson Cruz about his connection to the Biogenesis clinic in Miami.

A story published Tuesday in the Miami New Times alleges that Cruz bought performance-enhancing drugs from the clinic. Major League Baseball is investigating the case, and the Rangers will wait until that investigation concludes before discussing the matter with Cruz. “When something like that happens, I think we need to let things settle down,” club president Nolan Ryan said Thursday. “It’s an ongoing investigation by Major League Baseball, so that’s kind of the position we?ve taken.”

Roy Oswalt (Rangers)

1/30/13 2:29 pm

Adam Rubin of ESPN New York was told by a team insider that there’s “nothing going on” between the Mets and Roy Oswalt.

Rubin reported over the weekend that the Mets hadn’t closed the door on the possibility of adding Oswalt, but it’s not happening. It didn’t make much sense in the first place, as there isn’t room for him in the projected rotation following the addition of Shaun Marcum.

Jurickson Profar (Rangers)

1/23/13 2:03 pm

Jurickson Profar is undecided about whether to play for the Netherlands in the upcoming World Baseball Classic.

Profar may decide to stay with the Rangers because he feels like he may have a chance to make the Opening Day roster. Of course, with Elvis Andrus and Ian Kinsler returning at shortstop and second base respectively, the Rangers may prefer that he begins the season in the minors so that he can play everyday.
