Xavier Avery went 0-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI in Monday’s setback to Boston.
Interestingly, Avery was the only batter on either side not to get a hit. Still, he is off to a good major league start with a .278/.366/.417 triple slash.

Nolan Reimold said Monday night that he is undecided about receiving a second epidural injection in his neck.
Reimold has the appointment scheduled for the second injection, but he is currently weighing the pros and cons of the situation. While the shot will help with the pain, it will not improve his numbness and weakness. Reimold may just decide to play through through the pain. Stay tuned.

Tommy Hunter was tagged for five runs on nine hits while striking out three over six innings in Monday’s loss to the Red Sox.
A three-run sixth that included a long David Ortiz homer and a run that scored on a balk doomed Hunter. The big right-hander has been in and out of the Orioles rotation and up and down in his nine outings, posting a 5.07 ERA and 1.35 WHIP. He?ll get the Royals next.

Chris Davis singled and ripped a solo homer in Monday’s loss to the Red Sox.
It was his first longball since May 1. Davis has an ugly 38/8 K/BB ratio over 137 at-bats this season, but he’s hitting .299, and we know he has power. He should be in mixed league lineups.

Nolan Reimold acknowledged Monday that he is likely to receive a second epidural shot in his neck.
Orioles manager Buck Showalter said the same thing last week. We should know more after Reimold meets with a doctor Monday night, but he’s clearly not close to returning from the disabled list. Xavier Avery should continue to get most of the playing time in left field.

Brian Roberts (concussion) indicated Monday that he is close to beginning a minor league rehab assignment.
Nothing is official yet, but there’s a chance it could happen within a week if he continues to make progress. He’ll likely start out playing with Double-A Bowie, which is close to his home. While this is encouraging news, there’s no timetable for him to rejoin the Orioles. Robert Andino, who is hitting .264/.314/.372 through 161 plate appearances this year, will continue to fill in at second base.
