Mike Leake was brilliant against the Braves Monday in picking up his first victory of the season, limiting them to one run on just two hits and a walk over eight innings in the 4-1 win.

He punched out six batters in the outing. It’s Leake’s second straight quality start and third in the last four outings, as the righty appears to have righted the ship after a slow start. He’ll take a 5.32 ERA and 1.38 WHIP into the weekend start against the Rockies.

Mike Leake held the Mets to three runs (one earned) on seven hits and two walks in six innings of Wednesday’s 6-3 win.

Leake struck out five and walked two in taking a no-decision. The quality start was just his third in seven outings, and could temporarily quell the cries for Aroldis Chapman to be moved to the starting rotation (not that he shouldn’t be). Leake will look to gain more job security at home against the hot-hitting Braves on Monday.

Mike Leake turned in another miserable performance against the Nationals on Friday, allowing six runs on seven hits in just three innings of work.

Leake struck out three and walked two in the short effort. This may be the nail in the coffin, as the Reds may decide they are better off looking for an alternative option for the rotation. Leake falls to 0-5 with the loss and his ERA now sits at 7.11. Should he somehow stick around to make his next start, he’ll face the Mets in New York on Wednesday.

Mike Leake pitched fairly well against the Pirates on Saturday, allowing only three runs on four hits through his seven innings of work.

He struck out four and walked four. All of the runs scored against Leake came courtesy of the long ball, which has been his main problem all season. Neil Walker took him deep for a two-run blast in the third and Alex Presley added a solo shot in the seventh, which went on to stand as the winning run. With the quality start, Leake lowers his ERA to 5.97 on the season but falls to 0-4. He’ll look to get in the win column for the first time when he takes on the Nationals next time out.

Mike Leake turned in a second consecutive rough outing against the Astros on Friday, allowing six runs (three earned) on seven hits in just 3 2/3 innings.

Leake struck out one and didn?t walk a batter on the short night. With the loss, he falls to 0-3 on the season with a 6.65 ERA. He hasn?t pitched well at any point this season and could be in serious jeopardy of losing his spot in the Reds rotation. He?ll attempt to figure things out and get back on track when he takes on the Cubs next week.

Mike Leake was knocked around for five runs over 5 2/3 innings in a loss to the Cubs on Saturday.

The Cubs have struggled to score any runs lately, but they came alive with Leake on the hill. He allowed 10 hits in all while walking one and striking out three. Leake now has a disappointing 6.50 ERA and 8/5 K/BB ratio in 18 innings over his first three starts. He probably deserves a little leash based on what he did last season, but the clamoring for Aroldis Chapman to get a shot in the rotation figures to only grow.

Mike Leake had a rough day in Sunday’s 8-5, 11-inning win over the Nationals, allowing five runs on five hits and three walks in six innings of work.

Leake notched just one strikeout in failing to turn in back-to-back quality outings to begin his season. Purely a spot starter in shallower mixed leagues, Leake will get the Cubs at Wrigley Field next weekend.

Mike Leake pitched six effective innings in his 2012 season debut on Tuesday, allowing three runs on seven hits to the Cardinals.

Leake walked one and struck out four in the outing. He had to battle this spring to win his spot in the rotation, and with this solid effort he should be a bit more secure now. He?ll take on the Cubs next time out.

Mike Leake wasn’t sharp against the Royals Tuesday, allowing four runs on eight hits and two walks over three innings of work.

Leake was decent in his first two spring starts, but he wasn’t fooling anyone in this one. The rest of the Reds pitchers weren’t much better, as Sean Gallagher was the only one not to give up any runs, and he allowed a pair of hits in his inning. Leake should have a spot in the rotation locked up even if he has an awful spring.

Mike Leake gave up one run on three hits over two innings of work in Thursday’s win over the Brewers.

It’s a nearly identical line as his spring debut. Leake was followed by Sean Marshall, Carlos Fisher, Jordan Smith and Sean Gallagher. The 24-year-old right-hander posted a 3.36 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP in his final 20 starts of 2011 and could be a solid late-game fantasy option in mixed leagues this season.
