Matt Lindstrom was diagnosed with a right middle finger strain.

Lindstrom, who was placed on the disabled list last week, was diagnosed after undergoing an MRI on Saturday. While it’s possible he won’t be ready to return when he’s first eligible, the good news is that the sheath of the finger isn’t torn. He’s scheduled to head down to the team’s complex in Sarasota, Florida within the next few days.

That would clear a spot on the active roster for Friday’s starter, Dana Eveland. Lindstrom has a solid 1.29 ERA and 14/4 K/BB ratio over 14 innings this season, so it wouldn’t be an insignificant loss. Stay tuned.
