Matt Kemp (left hamstring strain) was given a platelet rich plasma injection Wednesday.

The shot should speed up Kemp’s recovery. He’s been on the disabled list (retroactively) since May 14 and is hoping to return to the Dodgers as soon as he is eligible.

Dodgers placed OF Matt Kemp on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 14, with a left hamstring strain.

As expected. Kemp aggravated his hamstring injury on Sunday and an MRI on Monday confirmed a strain. The 27-year-old outfielder didn’t want to go on the disabled list, but the Dodgers didn’t want to risk a prolonged absence for their best player. The hope is that he’ll be ready to go two weeks from now. Jerry Sands has been called up from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding roster move.

Matt Kemp will go on the disabled list with a strained left hamstring.

The Dodgers are planning to call up Jerry Sands in his place. Kemp had his consecutive games streak halted at 399 when he failed to play Monday. Tony Gwynn Jr. figures to see most of the starts in center in his place.

Matt Kemp is considered day-to-day after an MRI Monday confirmed a left hamstring strain.

It’s good news, as it appears Kemp will avoid a trip to the disabled list. It’s possible, though, that he won’t return to the lineup for a few days. The 27-year-old has struggled at the plate since dealing with the ailment, so hopefully he’ll be back to new after a couple days of rest.

Matt Kemp (hamstring) is not in Monday’s lineup against the Diamondbacks.

Kemp left Sunday’s game after aggravating his left hamstring and was scheduled to undergo an MRI. He has declared that he will not go on the disabled list, but he figures to miss a couple days at the very least. Tony Gwynn, Jr. will make the start in center field Monday while Bobby Abreu slides into the No. 3 spot in the batting order.

Matt Kemp will have an MRI on his left hamstring with results coming Monday.

Kemp said he might miss a game or two. “I’m definitely not going on the DL,” Kemp said. “This team needs me.” Kemp left Sunday’s game against the Rockies after the third inning. It appears to be the same injury that sidelined him last Sunday. The Dodgers open a series against Arizona on Monday.

Matt Kemp left Sunday’s game against the Rockies with tightness in his left hamstring.

It appears to be the same injury that sidelined him last Sunday. Kemp grounded out to end the third and came out of the game before the fourth after testing his leg. The All-Star slammed his equipment in the dugout when the decision was made. Consider him day-to-day for now. If we’re going by recent history, Kemp could miss a game and return to the field shortly thereafter. The Dodgers play Arizona Monday night.

Matt Kemp is batting .222 with with no home runs and no RBI in six games since suffering a hamstring injury, but Dodgers manager Don Mattingly insists the outfielder is fine physically.

“I don’t feel it has anything to do with it,” Mattingly said. “Matt’s no different than anyone else. You’re not going to hit .430. He’s going to go through periods. He been so good for so long, every time he struggles a little bit, it’s going to be, ‘Oh, he’s hurt. Something’s wrong.’ He is human. He’s going to struggle like everybody else.” Kemp is still batting .365/.453/.739 with 12 homers and 27 RBI despite a mini-drought. He’ll be fine.
