The Marlins and Jose Reyes have agreed to a six-year, $106 million deal, pending a physical, according to FoxSports.com’s Ken Rosenthal.

The deal does not include a no-trade clause. Miami put on a full court press over the weekend to secure Reyes and ended up blowing their competition out of the water. The 28-year-old Reyes batted .337/.384/.493 for the Mets in 2011 and should be elite again at the top of Miami’s lineup in 2012. Interestingly, Fan Graphs believes Reyes was worth $118 million over the previous six years. If he can somehow stay healthy, Miami won’t regret the contract. If Reyes can’t stay off of the disabled list, the Marlins may rue this day. Either way, it’s hard to fault Miami’s management for aggressively attacking the open market this offseason and paying for premium talent. Hanley Ramirez is expected to move to third base.

Mets general manager Sandy Alderson confirmed that the Mets are out if the reports of Jose Reyes’ six-year, $110 million offer from the Marlins are true.

As expected. Jim Bowden reports that the contract is worth $109 million and will be announced in Miami and not Dallas. Meanwhile, according to FoxSports.com’s Jon Morosi, the Marlins also have an offer out to free agent starter C.J. Wilson.

Miami got aggressive over the weekend and knocked the Mets out of the bidding. The Marlins will have to decide what to do with Hanley Ramirez, now. They will presumably shift him to third base, but Ramirez reportedly isn’t keen on that idea. Ruben Tejada will take over as New York’s shortstop next season. The 28-year-old Reyes posted a .337/.384/.493 batting line for the Mets in 2011 and will provide a great spark at the top of Miami’s lineup.

Reyes was offered a six-year, $111 million contract by the Marlins on Sunday, according to Enrique Rojas of ESPNDeportes.com. Joel Sherman of the New York Post says the Mets are out of the bidding reported that New York was willing to offer around $75 million over five years with a sixth year option to potentially make the contract worth $100 million, but the team felt it a stretch to offer five guaranteed years and definitely wouldn’t offer six. Meanwhile, Rubin points out that Ruben Tejada will be New York’s shortstop next season and Jon Heyman of SI.com writes that Hanley Ramirez is likely ticketed for third base duties.

If true, that should be enough to procure Reyes’ signature. Miami upgraded its initial offer to Reyes, reportedly somewhere in the range of $75-90 million over six years. The new proposal features an average of $18.5 million annually. The Mets are willing to give Reyes a five-year contract worth around $80 million, but perhaps Miami’s generous offer might get them to make a last-second contract upgrade in order to keep their All-Star shortstop.

According to Jon Heyman of SI.com, Brewers general manager Doug Melvin plans to meet with the agent for Jose Reyes this week.

If Prince Fielder walks, as expected, Milwaukee will have budget room to improve the left side of the infield. The Marlins reportedly offered Reyes a contract somewhere in the range of $75-90 million over six years. The Mets, meanwhile, are reportedly willing to give Reyes a five-year, $80 million deal.

According to Juan C. Rodriguez of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the Marlins have not given Jose Reyes an ultimatum and are prepared to wait him out through the Winter Meetings.

According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, Mets general manager Sandy Alderson spoke with the agent for Jose Reyes on Friday.

This is consistent with what Alderson said Thursday, as he planned to get in touch with Reyes’ representatives prior to the Winter Meetings. It appears that the Marlins are attempting to put some pressure on Reyes to reach some sort of decision this weekend, but it’s not clear whether they have improved their initial offer, which was reported to be for less than six years and $90 million. It will likely take a contract north of $100 million in order to get a deal done.

Jayson Stark of ESPN.com reports that the Marlins have “made so little headway” with Jose Reyes that they could now make a push to sign Aramis Ramirez.

This report flies in the face of what Jon Heyman of SI.com and Jim Bowden of SiriusXM Radio have reported, as they’ve said the Marlins are prepared to go after Reyes hard in an effort to get him signed before the Winter Meetings. In other words, it’s tough to know who to believe at this point, so stay tuned. Ramirez’s agent, Paul Kinzer, says he has spoken with the Marlins but wouldn’t elaborate on how those talks went.
