Jon Lester was brilliant against the Mariners Monday, going all nine innings while allowing just one run on eight hits and no walks while striking out six in a 6-1 win.

He threw 119 pitches in the gem. Lester has been pretty inconsistent this season, and he’s yet to get the strikeouts going, but he now has a 3.71 ERA and 1.27 WHIP on the year, so he’s the least of Boston’s rotation problems. The southpaw gets the Phillies this weekend.

Jon Lester was shaky in Wednesday’s loss to the Royals, allowing four runs (one earned) on six hits in just five innings of work.

Lester struck out three, walked one and required 108 pitches to record his 15 outs. It was just the latest in a long line of disappointing outings for Boston’s would-be No. 2 starter, who is now sporting a 4.29 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 28/18 K/BB ratio through his first 42 innings. The good news is that Lester is always a slow starter, and if history is any indication, will soon be rounding into form. He has a favorable matchup lined up for Monday, where he’ll get the Mariners in Boston.

Jon Lester pitched well in a no-decision on Friday, limiting the Orioles to three runs on five hits over his six innings of work.

Lester struck out two and walked three in the game. He left in position to pick up his second victory of the season, but the Red Sox bullpen was unable to hold onto his lead. He’ll look to build on the momentum of this strong start when he takes on the Royals in Kansas City next week.

Jon Lester turned in his best outing of the season against the White Sox on Saturday, allowing just five hits over seven shutout innings.

Lester racked up seven strikeouts and walked just one in the game. He had all of his pitches working in this one and was attacking the strike zone very effectively. The win is Lester’s first of the season, and he now sits at 1-2, lowing his ERA to 4.65 with the strong performance. He?ll look to carry over the momentum from this outing when he takes on the Orioles next week.

Jon Lester struggled but escaped with a no-decision Monday, allowing five runs on six hits and four walks over seven innings in a 6-5 win over the Twins.

He struck out four and allowed a longball to Danny Valencia. Lester pitched well in his first two outings of the season, but he’s been knocked around the last two times out, surrendering 12 runs. He’ll take an unsightly 6.00 ERA and 1.50 WHIP into the weekend matchup against the White Sox.

Jon Lester had a night he?d like to forget against the Rangers on Tuesday, allowing seven runs on eight hits in just two innings of work.

Lester also walked four and struck out only two. He’s now winless through three starts with a bloated 5.82 ERA. He should be able to turn things around soon, and will look to do so when he takes on the Twins in Minnesota next week.

Jon Lester went the distance in a loss Wednesday, holding the Blue Jays to three runs on three hits and two walks in eight innings of Boston’s 3-1 setback in Toronto.

He fanned six. Lester’s seventh career complete game was his first since June 27, 2010. His only real mistake came in the third, where he served up a triple to Rajai Davis. Lester has now allowed just four runs and nine hits through his first 15 innings of work, but has an 0-1 record to show for it. After getting the Tigers and Jays in his first two starts, Lester will face his stiffest test yet Tuesday when he takes on the Rangers in Boston.

Jon Lester allowed one run and six hits over seven innings Thursday against the Tigers.

Lester helped himself a bunch by inducing three double-play balls. The lone run he gave up today came with two outs in the seventh. The left-hander struggled early in the spring, but he’s been locked in for three straight outings now.

Jon Lester struggled through three innings Wednesday, giving up four runs and eight hits versus the Pirates.

Lester, who was supposed to go five innings today, walked two and struck out one before getting pulled. He’s yet to have a good outing in three trips to the mound this spring. While Lester does have a history of regular-season slow starts, he was plenty good each of the three previous springs. One wonders if a poor April is on the way this year.
