Johan Santana yielded four runs in 6 1/3 innings as part of a no-decision against the Pirates on Monday night.

Santana scattered eight hits while fanning seven and walking just one. He carried the lead until his final inning of work when he gave up a game-tying two-run blast to catcher Michael McKenry. It was just the second time all season that he had given up four runs in a start, the other being when he was pulled after 1 1/3 innings on April 17 against the Braves. We like his chances of bouncing back this weekend against the light-hitting Padres.

Johan Santana held the Reds to two runs on six hits in 6 2/3 innings of work on Wednesday, but got stuck with a no-decision in New York’s 6-3 loss.

He struck out five and walked two. Santana served up a solo home run to Todd Frazier in the seventh before watching his bullpen allow four more runs before the night was through. The quality start was Santana’s fifth straight, and leaves him with a 2.89 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 46/14 K/BB ratio through his first 43 2/3 innings. If he’s not “back,” he’s close to it. He’ll get the light-hitting Pirates in Pittsburgh on Monday.

Johan Santana yielded three runs over six innings in a no-decision against the Marlins on Friday night.

Santana gave up six hits (including a home run) while fanning seven and walking none. All three runs scored in the first inning. The southpaw has a surprising 2.92 ERA and 41/12 K/BB ratio over seven starts this season and remains a must-start every time out in mixed leagues. He’ll get the Reds at home next week.

Johan Santana turned in a quality start against the Marlins on Friday, allowing three runs on six hits over six innings of work.

Santana struck out seven and didn?t walk a batter in the game. He gave up all three runs in the first inning, capped off by a two-run homer from Austin Kearns. After that, he settled in and dominated the Marlins over the next five innings to keep the Mets in the game. He’s now 1-2 on the season with a 2.92 ERA, and will look to even out his record when he faces the Reds on Wednesday.

Johan Santana picked up his first victory of the season on Saturday after limiting the Diamondbacks to three runs on nine hits over seven innings of work.

Santana struck out five and walked one. He’s been impressive in the early part of the season, boasting a 2.61 ERA and 34/12 K/BB through his first 31 innings. While the left-hander doesn’t have quite the velocity that he did in his hey day, he still owns that devastating changeup and has displayed impeccable control thus far. He’ll look to continue his resurgence when he squares off against the Marlins in Miami next week.

Johan Santana limited the Rockies to just two hits in six innings of Sunday’s 6-5, 11-inning win at Coors Field.

Santana struck out five and walked three in his second straight quality start. Through five outings and 24 innings, Santana has pitched about as well as could have been reasonably expected after he missed all of 2011, posting a 2.25 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 29/11 K/BB ratio. He’ll get the Diamondbacks at home next weekend.

Johan Santana whiffed 11 Marlins hitters in a no-decision Tuesday, allowing just three hits and two walks over 6 2/3 innings in the 2-1 win.

It’s quite a rebound start after he lasted just 1 1/3 frames his last time out. Santana’s velocity is still sitting in the high-80s, but he’s had no trouble getting swings and misses thus far, having punched out 24 batters over 18 innings. The veteran left-hander will take a 3.00 ERA and 1.22 WHIP into this weekend’s start in Colorado.

Johan Santana pitched very poorly on Tuesday allowing six runs (four earned) on four hits in just 1 1/3 innings against the Braves.

Santana also walked one and didn?t strike out a batter. After two very strong starts to begin the season, he took a giant step backwards in this one. He’s still been better than advertised in his return from his shoulder injury and subsequent missed season, but hiccups like this are to be expected along the way. He?ll look to get back on track when he takes on the Giants next week.

Johan Santana allowed just one run on five hits over five-plus innings in a loss to the Nationals on Wednesday.

Santana surprisingly batted for himself in the bottom of the fifth inning, only to be pulled after walking the first batter in the top of the sixth. He threw 99 pitches in all while striking out eight, walking three and averaging around 88 mph on his fastball. The veteran southpaw has lasted only five innings in back-to-back starts, but he has allowed just one run while striking out 13 and walking five. His early exits may not lead to many wins, but he should be owned in all formats as long as he’s healthy.

Johan Santana pitched five scoreless innings before coming out of a tie game Thursday against the Braves.

Santana was at just 84 pitches, but with his spot in the order coming up, the Mets didn’t try to get another inning out of him after a nice outing. He allowed two hits, walked two and struck out five. While his velocity isn’t what it was, he’s been demonstrating that he can adapt.
