Joey Votto clubbed a three-run homer in Saturday’s win over the Yankees.

Votto, who went 1-for-3, also drew another walk Saturday and has an impressive 36//33 K/BB ratio over his first 39 games this year. He was a little slow to get started in the power department, but he has collected five out of his seven home runs in the span of seven games.

Joey Votto went 1-for-3 plus two walks and scored a run in the Reds loss to the Nationals on Friday.

Votto also picked up his second stolen base of the season in the game. He’s hitting an impressive .292 on the season with two homers and 18 RBI. Though the power numbers are down, everything else looks to be in line, so those numbers should correct before too long. He’ll finish with a .300 average and right around 30 homers and 100 RBI.

Joey Votto homered and doubled in Sunday’s 6-5 win over the Astros, driving in four runs.

Votto took Jordan Lyles deep for a two-run shot in the fourth before plating two more with a seventh-inning double off of David Carpenter. Amazingly, the home run was just Votto’s second of the season, but he’s now doubled in five straight games, and six of his past seven. He’s driven in 15 RBI to go along with his .289/.439/.500 triple slash.

Joey Votto doubled twice, walked twice and notched his ninth RBI in Sunday’s win over the Cubs.

The extra-base hits were Votto’s first in six games, though he’s now driven in a run in three of his past four contests. Votto hasn’t homered since Cincinnati’s second game of the season, but hitting .291/.444/.436, the bombs are certain to come soon.

Joey Votto went 2-for-3, leading what was a dreadful offensive attack against the Nationals on Friday.

The Reds were only able to get five hits in the 13 inning marathon, spoiling the brilliant effort by Bronson Arroyo. Votto is off to another very solid start to the season, hitting .333 (9-for-27).

Votto got the scoring started for the Reds with an RBI double in the third, and he scored the winning run in the ninth. He had been off to a relatively slow start at the plate, batting just .188 through the first five games, but he has the mark up to .333 after today’s exploits.

Reds signed 1B Joey Votto to a 10-year, $225 million contract extension with a club option for 2024.

Votto will be 40 years old when the guaranteed portion of the contract ends. We’re going to make an early guess that the Reds won’t be picking up the option, as it’s likely a creative way to defer some of the significant cost involved. The Reds certainly deserve credit for finding a way to keep one of the best players in the game from testing the market, but this could be a big drain on their payroll if they can’t increase revenue in future seasons. Securing a lucrative new television deal down the line will likely be a big factor.

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that Joey Votto’s contract extension with the Reds will be worth “almost exactly” $200 million over 10 years.

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com is hearing the same thing. The deal is expected to include the two years and $26.5 million remaining on the extension he signed with the Reds last offseason. This means the new agreement is worth $173 million over eight years. Once complete, Votto will be signed through 2021 and his age-38 season.
