Angels signed RHP Joe Blanton to a two-year, $15 million contract with an $8 million club option for 2015.
Per Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times, Blanton will make $6.5 million next season and $7.5 million in 2014 while the option carries a $1 million buyout. The 32-year-old right-hander posted a 4.71 ERA and 166/34 K/BB ratio over 191 innings this past season between the Phillies and Dodgers and should slot behind Jered Weaver, C.J. Wilson and Tommy Hanson in the Angels’ rotation. Making half of his starts in pitcher-friendly Angel Stadium will help his chances of being useful, but he’s only a fringe option in standard mixed fantasy leagues.
