Jhonny Peralta hit a solo home run in Sunday’s win over the Pirates.

He also drew a walk and scored a pair of runs. Peralta’s fifth-inning blast off of Kevin Correia was just his second of the season, though he’s batting a solid .268/.355/.390. More bombs should be on the way for Detroit’s powerful shortstop.

Jhonny Peralta is not in Wednesday’s lineup against the Twins.

Just a day off for Peralta, who is hitting just .252/.333/.351 with one homer over his first 32 games this year. Ramon Santiago will start in his place and bat ninth against right-hander Nick Blackburn.

Johnny Peralta delivered a walk-off two-run blast off of Matt Thornton to give the Tigers a much needed 5-4 victory over the White Sox on Friday.

Peralta finished the night 2-for-4 with those two RBI. He’s off to a very slow start to the season, as after hitting 21 home runs last season, this crucial blast was his first of the 2012 season. With the heroic effort, he’s now hitting .253 with nine RBI on the year.

Jhonny Peralta delivered a two-run homer and an RBI double against the Astros on Sunday.

Peralta is 8-for-19 with a couple of homers in his last six games. Spring training seems to mean nothing for him, though. He had his best spring in 2009, finishing with a 1.035 OPS before turning in his worst regular season for Cleveland. Last year, he went 66 spring at-bats without driving in a single run, only to knock in 86 runs during the regular season.
