Jake Peavy bounced back from a rough start his last time out in Sunday’s 6-0 win over the Cubs, allowing just three hits across 6 1/3 scoreless innings.

Peavy struck out seven and walked two in improving to 5-1. Peavy has now been quality in eight of his first nine 2012 starts, and has a 2.39 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 55/11 K/BB ratio to show for it. He’ll get the Indians at home next Saturday.

Jake Peavy was tagged for six runs in 5 1/3 innings by the Tigers on Tuesday.

Some very good starters figured to have bad days against that Detroit lineup this season, even if it has been a disappointment so far. Peavy hadn’t allowed more than three runs in any of his seven starts this season before getting roughed up today.

Jake Peavy breezed by the Indians in Wednesday’s 7-1 victory, allowing just one run on seven hits and one walk in seven innings of work.

Peavy fanned five in moving to 4-1 and dropping his ERA to 1.89. Now the owner of an absurd 0.80 WHIP and 44/7 K/BB ratio through 52 1/3 innings, Peavy has completed at least seven innings of work in five consecutive starts. He’ll look to keep rolling against the Tigers at home next Tuesday.

Jake Peavy will skip his normal between-starts bullpen session following his 122-pitch start on Friday.

Peavy says he’s feeling only “normal soreness” following the outing, but, just to be safe, he’ll only play catch instead of throwing off a mound. The veteran right-hander is off to a fantastic start this season, posting a 1.99 ERA and 0.75 WHIP in six outings, so we’re hoping he’ll remain healthy.

Jake Peavy turned in another strong performance against the Tigers on Friday, but was denied the victory when Matt Thornton blew his lead in the bottom of the ninth.

Peavy allowed three runs on seven hits over 7 2/3 strong innings of work, while striking out six and walking just one. He was allowed to stay in the game in the eighth inning, after already throwing 120 pitches, to allow an RBI single to Miguel Cabrera. Peavy still sits at 3-1 with a miniscule 1.99 ERA on the season, which he’ll look to improve upon when he takes on the Indians next week.

Jake Peavy continued his resurgence against the Red Sox on Saturday night, allowing just one run on four hits in a complete-game effort.

Peavy has been in vintage form thus far in 2012, striking out another seven batters on Saturday in Chicago while walking just one. He’s now 3-1 with a 1.67 ERA and a very impressive 33/5 K/BB through his first 37 2/3 innings this season. While his White Sox career has been plagued by injury and under-performance, the veteran right-hander sure looks dominant right now.

Jake Peavy pitched a three-hitter Monday in a 4-0 win over the Athletics.

Believe it or not, Peavy now has as many shutouts with the White Sox (three) as he did with the Padres. He’s allowed three, two, one and now zero runs in his four starts this season. It’s a trend that will be tough to continue, but he qualifies as one of 2012′s biggest surprises thus far.

Jake Peavy held the Orioles to just one run on four hits in seven innings of work Wednesday, striking out eight and walking none in Chicago’s 8-1 victory.

That’s three straight quality starts to begin the season for Peavy, while he’s now fanned eight in each of his past two outings. It’s far too early to declare the injury-prone righty “back,” but the owner of a 2.75 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 21/2 K/BB ratio through his first 20 2/3 innings, he’s on his way. His comeback tour’s next stop should come Monday in Oakland.

Jake Peavy yielded two runs in 6 2/3 innings and struck out eight Friday in a win over Detroit.

Peavy didn’t impress this spring, but he’s posted a 3.55 ERA and a 0.95 WHIP against two top offenses (the Rangers and Tigers) to start the regular season. With Baltimore and Oakland due up next, he makes for at least an interesting short-term play in mixed leagues.

Jake Peavy allowed three earned runs in six innings Saturday in his 2012 debut against the Rangers.

Peavy yielded eight hits, but he operated well in damage control and wound up tallying five strikeouts against just one walk. The 31-year-old right-hander is no sure bet to stay healthy, but he should have value in mixed fantasy leagues while he’s active. He’ll face the dangerous Tigers next time out.
