J.A. Happ pitched six scoreless innings in Thursday’s 4-0 win over the Brewers.

J.A. Happ struggled in a losing effort against the Pirates on Saturday, giving up four earned runs on six hits in just five innings of work.

Happ punched out four and walked one in the game. The loss drops him to 2-3, and his ERA jumped to 5.39. He should be avoided in all fantasy leagues for his next start, which comes against the Brewers on Thursday.

J.A. Happ got roughed up by the Cardinals in Sunday’s loss, allowing six runs (five earned) on six hits and four walks in five innings of work.

He struck out three and served up two-run homers to Allen Craig and Tyler Greene. Happ hasn’t been quite as dreadful as he was in 2011, but has still allowed fewer than three runs just once in six starts, and is the owner of a 5.24 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 34/16 K/BB ratio through 34 1/3 innings. He’s a poor option in NL-only leagues. He’ll get the Pirates at home next weekend.

J.A. Happ pitched extremely well against the Mets on Tuesday, giving up three runs on six hits over his 6 1/3 innings of work.

Happ struck out seven and walked three in the game. With the strong effort, he improves to 2-1 on the season and lowers his ERA to 4.60. While he’s never been able to replicate the incredible results from his first season with the Phillies, Happ does have value as a spot starter based on matchups in most leagues. You could do a lot worse as a spot play than trotting Happ out when he squares off against the Marlins on Monday.

J.A. Happ came away with a no-decision in Wednesday’s 7-5 win over the Brewers, as the left-hander gave up four runs on seven hits in five innings.

He walked two, fanned eight, and threw 103 pitches before being removed. Happ regressed last season to the tune of a 5.35 ERA. Through four starts, his 4.70 ERA and 1.52 WHIP makes one wonder when, if ever, we will see the pre-2011 Happ again.

J.A. Happ pitched fairly well in the Astros loss to the Dodgers on Friday, allowing three runs on eight hits in six innings of work.

Happ struck out three and walked four in the game. He surrendered a two run homer to Matt Kemp in the first inning, and then only an RBI single to Andre Ethier in the third. He’s looked much improved over his first three starts this season, and will look to carry that over when he takes on the Brewers in Milwaukee next week.

J.A. Happ took a no-decision in Sunday’s 11-inning loss to the Marlins, allowing two runs on five hits in six innings of work.

He walked just two while fanning eight. His only real mistake of the afternoon came in the second inning, where he became Omar Infante’s latest home-run victim. Happ is off to a solid start, posting a 3.75 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 13/3 K/BB ratio through 12 innings, but we’ll need to see much, much more before recommending him as a safe option in mixed leagues.

J.A. Happ gave up three runs over six innings in an 8-3 win over the Braves on Monday.

Happ appeared to be in trouble after surrendering three runs over the first three innings, but he finished with three shutout frames. The southpaw struck out five and walked one in the victory. The Braves offense is looking pretty mediocre so far, so don’t be fooled by tonight’s “quality start.”

J.A. Happ threw eight innings and 98 pitches in a minor league game against the Nationals.

Happ is nothing more than a fringe pitcher, but the Astros are committed to giving him a rotation spot going into the year. The 29-year-old was a massive disappointment in his first full season with Houston, and may find himself obsolete by midseason.

J.A. Happ gave up three runs and seven hits in four innings Wednesday versus the Cardinals.

All seven hits were singles, for what that’s worth. He also didn’t walk anyone. Still, Happ has allowed 15 hits and walked four in 8 2/3 innings for the spring.
