Ike Davis (ankle) said Tuesday that he is “good to go” for spring training.

“I’m there now,” Davis said Tuesday following a two-hour workout at Fischer Sports Physical Therapy and Conditioning near his home in the Phoenix, Arizona area. “Right now it’s not, ‘I wonder if I can play.’ It’s ‘I’m ready to play.’ ” The 24-year-old first baseman was limited to just 36 games last season due to a bone bruise and ligament damage in his left ankle, but he has serious sleeper potential if healthy.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post hears that the Mets are shopping first baseman Ike Davis.

Sherman notes that the Pirates and Rangers are looking for a first baseman and that Texas is particularly fond of him. We doubt much will come of it unless Mets general manager Sandy Alderson is able to find a similar young impact player in return. The 24-year-old remains under team control for several more years.

Ike Davis has resumed workouts following a brief hiatus and believes his left ankle injury is behind him.

“I feel good,” said Davis, who opted against surgery after missing most of the 2011 season. “I’m working out, trying to get in shape. I’m doing weightlifting, agility. I’ve done some running and it’s been good. Obviously I don’t know what would happen if I roll it or something, but I think what I’m doing now is probably going to be harder than the actual baseball stuff.” Assuming Davis avoids any setbacks, he should make for a solid sleeper on draft day, as he should benefit from the planned changes for Citi Field.

Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said Monday that he expects Ike Davis (ankle) to be ready for spring training.

Davis opted against surgery on his left ankle and is currently doing conditioning work at his home in Arizona. “Right now we think he’s going to be ready to go,” said Alderson. “I expect to see him in Arizona in the next couple of weeks because I?ll be out there for the Fall League. Right now we have no reason to believe he won?t be ready.” Assuming he doesn’t run into any setbacks, Davis makes for a solid sleeper in fantasy leagues.
