Gordon Beckham hit a solo homer in the top of the eighth to propel the White Sox to a 3-2 victory over the Cubs on Friday.

Beckham also had a big play earlier in the game, when he rolled into David DeJesus on a play at second base, knocking him off the bag, and somehow got the out call out of it. Beckham’s homer was his third of the season. They’ve all come this month after he hit just .153 during April.

Gordon Beckham had a strong night at the dish against the Tigers on Friday, going 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBI.

Beckham doubled home a run in the third inning to get the White Sox on the board and even the score at one. After singling in the fifth inning, he added a two-run blast off of Octavio Dotel to put the Sox up 4-2 in the seventh inning. Needing only a triple for the cycle, he grounded out against Jose Valverde in the ninth inning. With the strong night, Beckham raises his average to .233 on the season, and perhaps this is just the type of game he needs to get his confidence back.

Gordon Beckham finally busted out with a 3-for-4 performance — including his first home run — Tuesday against the Indians.

The effort marked only his second multi-hit game of the season. In fact, Beckham produced his previous three-hit outing 98 games ago on June 30, 2011.

Gordon Beckham is not in Wednesday’s lineup against the Athletics.

He’s just getting the day off. Beckham has hit safely in four out of his last five games, but he’s still hitting just .180 (9-for-50) with zero homers so far this year. Eduardo Escobar will start in his place Wednesday and bat ninth against rookie right-hander Jarrod Parker.

Gordon Beckham doubled and walked in the shutout loss to the Rangers on Sunday.

Beckham was the White Sox’s third No. 2 hitter in three games and the first two get a hit. If he can establish himself in that spot, it’d definitely boost his fantasy value. Still, there’s little reason to think it will happen right away.
