The Cubs and C Geovany Soto avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $4.3 million contract.
A nice raise for Soto, who earned $3 million in 2011 while batting .228/.310/.411 with 17 home runs and 54 RBI over 125 games. He’s capable of better rate stats, and should improve in that department in 2012. The 28-year-old remains a valuable fantasy catcher.
