Freeman finished the night 1-for-4. He swatted his solo homer in the fourth inning off Jonathan Niese, giving the Braves a 1-0 lead at the time. The 23-year-old has avoided a sophomore slump this season, hitting .265/.347/.466 with 23 homers, 90 runs scored and 94 RBI.

Freeman finished the afternoon 1-for-5. His three-run shot off Roy Halladay in the first inning got the Braves on the scoreboard first, and stood as the difference maker in the game. He’s been struggling at the dish in recent weeks, hitting just .206 (26-for-126) with six homers and 16 RBI over his last 36 games.

Freeman is enjoying a very productive sophomore season, now batting .281 with 14 homers and 73 RBI.

The three-run shot off Johan Santana in the fifth inning was Freeman’s lone hit in four trips to the plate. He has now hit safely in seven consecutive games, hitting .462 (12-for-26) with two homers and seven RBI over that stretch. At just 22-years-old, he’s quickly becoming one of the best hitting first baseman in the National League.

The 22-year-old slugger is enjoying a nice sophomore season, hitting .275 with 11 homers and 51 RBI. Once he learns to cut down on the strikeouts and control the plate better, he could be considered among the best all-around hitters in the National League.
