Franklin Gutierrez

Franklin Gutierrez is currently undergoing treatment for the plantar fasciitis in his heel and will not run for nearly two weeks.

Gutierrez began the season on the disabled list with a torn pectoral muscle, but the heel injury is the bigger issue right now. Mariners manager Eric Wedge estimates that a return in late June is the “best-case scenario.” Michael Saunders will continue to play center field during his absence.

Franklin Gutierrez will be kept off his feet for the next 3-4 days, as the plantar faciitis in his heel is still bothering him.

“It’s still the same thing, but it’s just not going away any time soon,” Mariners manager Eric Wedge said of Gutierrez’s injury. Gutierrez originally went on the DL with a pectoral injury, but it’s not longer an issue. He remains out indefinitely, though, because of the heel.

Franklin Gutierrez (pectoral, foot) did some running Wednesday for the first time since being diagnosed with plantar fasciitis in his heel.

Gutierrez originally went on the DL with a torn pectoral muscle, but he then suffered the heel injury late last month, and it seems to be more of a concern at this point. There’s no timetable for his return, and it would be surprising if we saw him before June at this point.

Franklin Gutierrez (pectoral) is currently dealing with plantar fasciitis in his heel.

Gutierrez is currently in extended spring training rehabbing from a torn pectoral muscle. The good news is that he’s throwing fine, but plantar fasciitis can be a nagging condition. There’s no current timetable for his return, but it looks like it will stretch well into May at this point.

Franklin Gutierrez (pectoral) could begin a minor league rehab assignment later this week.

Gutierrez was recently cleared to throw and has begun taking batting practice. He will likely be eased into action as a designated hitter. It figures to be a lengthy rehab assignment, as he missed most of spring training due to his torn pectoral muscle. Michael Saunders will continue to play center field with the big club for now.

Franklin Gutierrez (pectoral) has been cleared for throwing.

Gutierrez threw balls against a wall on Friday and reported no lingering pain or discomfort in the pectoral muscle that he tore near the start of spring training. The 29-year-old center fielder has already been hitting for a couple of weeks and should be ready to join the M’s by the end of April.

Mariners placed OF Franklin Gutierrez on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 24, with a torn right pectoral muscle.

Gutierrez is eligible to return as soon as April 9, but he only recently began some easy throwing, so he’s likely to be sidelined until the end of the month. Michael Saunders will start in center field for now.

Franklin Gutierrez (pectoral) swung a bat 25 times Thursday morning in Mariners camp.

It was a rather significant step forward for the 29-year-old center fielder, who was diagnosed at the end of February with a torn right pectoral muscle. “It went well,” said Mariners trainer Rick Griffin. “You could tell he was a little hesitant at first, he thought he might feel it (pectoral muscle) but about half way through he let go and took a good swing and said it felt great.” Gutierrez is expected to make his regular season debut by late April.

Franklin Gutierrez (pectoral) is feeling much better but won?t be cleared to resume baseball activity for at least another 7-10 days.

Gutierrez, who is recovering from a partially torn pectoral muscle, has been getting daily treatment, running in a pool, riding a stationary bicycle and doing light exercises in the water. He’s not expected to rejoin the Mariners lineup until late April.

Franklin Gutierrez (pectoral) isn’t expected to go on a minor league rehab assignment until mid-April.

The Mariners gave the outfielder a 4-6 week timetable to return from his pectoral injury, but evidently he won’t be ready to rejoin the major league club even by the end of the six weeks. Michael Saunders and Casper Wells are expected to handle center field until Gutierrez is ready.
