Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald says the Royals are “listening” on Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas, Alex Gordon, Billy Butler and Wil Myers.

FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal reported last week that the Royals could be poised to pull off a big deal this offseason in order to upgrade their rotation. It’s hard to imagine them shipping one of their young hitters like Hosmer, Moustakas or Myers, but it sounds like general manager Dayton Moore might at least be willing to consider it.

Eric Hosmer (shoulder) has been shut down for the season.

Hosmer has a slight tear in his right rotator cuff, so he never seemed likely to make it back for the last couple games, and the Royals have no made it official. It concludes a disappointing first full season for the first baseman, as he batted just .232 with 14 homers and 60 RBI.

Eric Hosmer (shoulder) is out of the Royals’ lineup again Tuesday.

Hosmer was diagnosed with a slight tear in his right rotator cuff over the weekend and still felt a twinge while raising his arm on Monday. The Royals haven’t official shut him down, but it’s highly doubtful that they risk putting him back out there. As expected, Mike Moustakas (groin) is also out of the lineup.

Eric Hosmer (shoulder) is being reevaluated Monday.

Hosmer was diagnosed with a slight tear in his right rotator cuff over the weekend. The Royals have yet to rule him out for the season, but he still feels a twinge when he raises his arm. There’s nothing to be gained by playing him this week, so we suspect they’ll shut him down.

An MRI taken Saturday revealed that Eric Hosmer (shoulder) has a slight tear in his rotator cuff.

He’ll be reevaluated in Kansas City on Monday, and hasn’t ruled out playing through the pain to finish the season. Hosmer suffered the injury diving for a ball in Thursday’s game. With the Royals out of contention, it would be unwise to risk making the matter any worse.

Eric Hosmer (shoulder) will not play Friday but is hoping to return before the end of the season.

Hosmer suffered a strained right shoulder during Thursday’s game when he dove for a ball. “I reached back while diving for it,” Hosmer said, “and just landed awkwardly. But there’s nothing torn. It’s nothing too serious. I should be fine. In a couple of days, if it’s not getting any better, we?ll get an MRI and check it out. But I should be fine.”

Eric Hosmer was diagnosed with a right shoulder strain shortly after leaving Thursday’s game.

Hosmer suffered the injury while diving for a ball in the second inning of Kansas City’s afternoon tilt with the Tigers. The young first baseman will be reevaluated on Friday when the Royals arrive in Cleveland. He seems doubtful to return action for the final week of the regular season.
