According to FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal, Edwin Jackson turned down a three-year offer form the Pirates.

The proposal was reportedly worth around $30 million. E-Jax instead chose to sign a one-year, $11 million contract with Washington, where he’ll be starting around half of his games in a pitcher-friendly park. The hard-throwing right-hander will hit the free agent market again in the fall at the age of 29.

Jim Duquette of MLB Network Radio reports that Edwin Jackson will receive $11 million on his one-year deal with the Nationals, though $2 million of it is deferred.

Duquette also adds that Jackson turned down two three-year offers worth in the vicinity of $20-25 million, instead hoping he can cash in during free agency next offseason. The 28-year-old went 12-9 with a 3.79 ERA and 1.44 WHIP with the White Sox and Cardinals last season and posted a 5.60 ERA in four postseason outings for St. Louis.

Nationals signed RHP Edwin Jackson to a one-year contract.

The Nationals have announced the signing, though it is pending a physical. Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that he’ll make somewhere in the range of $10 million. It’s a nice value for the Nationals, who suddenly have a pretty formidable starting rotation. Jackson should slot behind Stephen Strasburg, Jordan Zimmermann and Gio Gonzalez while John Lannan, Chien-Ming Wang and Ross Detwiler currently project to compete for the fifth spot. The Red Sox and Orioles were also mentioned as possible landing spots for Jackson recently, but joining the Nationals and staying in the National League was probably the best way to go if he hopes to keep his value intact and test free agency again next offseason.

According to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com, Edwin Jackson’s one-year deal with the Nationals is believed to be worth between $8-12 million.

Meanwhile, Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com hears that it’s in the $10 million range. While Jackson didn’t get the lucrative multi-year contract he was looking for, that’s still a pretty good chunk of change this late in the offseason. The 28-year-old right-hander went 12-9 with a 3.79 ERA and 1.44 WHIP between the White Sox and Cardinals last season and should give a boost to an improved Nationals’ rotation. Jackson was a Type B free agent this offseason, so the Cardinals will receive a supplemental first-round pick now that he has signed elsewhere.

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Nationals are targeting free agent right-hander Edwin Jackson.

The Nationals are “aggressively shopping” left-hander John Lannan in order to free up some salary. Rosenthal previously mentioned that they could make a late run at either Roy Oswalt or Jackson, but the latter option is their actual target. Of course, this wouldn’t be a realistic scenario unless they can find a suitor for Lannan. The Red Sox have reportedly made Jackson a one-year offer in the neighborhood of $5-6 million while the Orioles and Cardinals have also been mentioned as possibilities in recent days.

Gordon Edes of ESPNBoston.com was told by a source that the Red Sox are “most likely out of the picture” for free agent right-hander Edwin Jackson.

The Red Sox have made Jackson an offer — a one-year deal worth between $5-6 million, according to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe — but Edes was told that there are better offers on the table from other clubs. It was reported over the weekend that Jackson has received multiple three-year offers, but it’s not clear where they are coming from. The Orioles have been mentioned as a possibility while the Cardinals have reportedly checked in on the right-hander.

According to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe, the Red Sox have offered free agent right-hander Edwin Jackson a one-year contract worth between $5-6 million.

It was recently reported that Jackson is open to accepting one-year offers, but the Red Sox might have to do better than $5-6 million to reel him in. The 28-year-old Scott Boras client is likely seeking something closer to $10-$12 million for 2012. He can then become a free agent again in the fall, and will be only be 29 years of age.

According to Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun, Edwin Jackson is likely to sign a one-year deal.

The idea being that he could hit the free agent market again next offseason as a 29-year-old. Jackson reportedly has multiple three-year offers on the table, with one of them probably coming from the Orioles, but he might prefer to join a contender or a pitch in a home ballpark with bigger dimensions. The Red Sox have also expressed interest in the right-hander, and the Cardinals are said to be monitoring his market.
