Edinson Volquez surrendered five runs (three earned) over five innings Thursday in a loss to the Dodgers.

Volquez gave up seven hits while fanning six and walking three. It was just the third time in nine starts this season that he gave up more than two earned runs, though he has been fortunate enough to make seven of his starts at PETCO Park. We’d consider sitting him in mixed leagues with a start on the road against the Cardinals next week.

His numbers, as anticipated, have been much better this year with the move to Petco Park. He?ll look to continue his strong start when he squares off against the Dodgers at home on Thursday.

Edinson Volquez limited the Nationals to just one run over seven innings as part of a no-decision on Thursday.

Volquez held the Nats scoreless until giving up a solo homer to Jayson Werth in his final inning of work. He allowed just three hits on the night while fanning seven and walking only one. Pretty impressive considering that he had walked 15 batters over his previous 23 innings. Volquez now has a 3.60 ERA over his first five starts and will square off against the Brewers on the road next week.

Edinson Volquez was charged with three runs in six-plus innings Friday in a loss to the Phillies.

Volquez deserved better after allowing just two hits over six scoreless innings to start the night. He gave up three straight singles to start the seventh, the last a bunt single, and was pulled without the opportunity to get himself out of trouble. Andrew Cashner came in and allowed all three inherited runners to score, leaving 0-2 with a 4.30 ERA this season.

Edinson Volquez allowed four runs on six hits and five walks in five innings of Sunday’s loss to the Dodgers.

The five walks were a season-high for Volquez, though he’s now issued at least three free passes in each of his first three starts, and is sporting a 4.24 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 17/12 K/BB ratio through 17 innings. Two of his starts have come at pitcher’s haven Petco Park, while today’s outing was in spacious Dodger Stadium. Volquez’s journey west doesn’t appear to be curing what ailed him in Cincinnati the past two seasons.

Edinson Volquez pitched seven innings of two-run ball Tuesday versus the Diamondbacks.

Volquez has walked seven in 12 innings to date, but he’s also struck out 15, which has helped give him a 3.00 ERA. With Petco on his side, he can be wild and not pay dearly.

Padres manager Bud Black said that rather than juggle his rotation, he will skip the fifth starter’s spot and keep his first four starters on their regular rest.

This means that Edinson Volquez will start on Tuesday against the Diamondbacksm followed by Cory Luebke, Dustin Moseley and Clayton Richard. The Padres won’t use a fifth starter until they have to on April 14.
