The Red Sox made the offer verbally while Valentine was in Japan, which means that the deal isn’t officially done. Bobby V is scheduled to return to the United States on Wednesday in order to dot the i’s and cross the t’s. It’s just a matter of time before he’ll officially be named the 45th manager in Red Sox history.

While he’ll inherit a very talented club from Terry Francona, his job will be to help rebound from one of the worst collapses in baseball history.
