Daniel Murphy is expected to get the day off Monday.

The Mets are in the middle of playing 20 games in 20 days, so manager Terry Collins just wants to give his everyday guys a breather. Murphy currently ranks ninth in the National League with a .331 batting average.

Daniel Murphy went 2-for-4 with an RBI single, a double and a run scored in a win over the Brewers on Monday night.

Murphy has now hit safely in 10 straight games, raising his batting average from .283 to .333 in the process. While he has yet to collect his first home run, he at least has 10 doubles and a solid .779 OPS. Those in mixed fantasy leagues shouldn’t hesitate leaving him active.

Daniel Murphy stayed hot in Sunday’s win over the Diamondbacks, plating two runs with a first-inning single.

Murphy is now seven for his first 17 in May (.412), and hitting .315/.358/.378 on the season. He won’t provide you with any power, but Murphy should be a steady source of average and runs in all formats.

Daniel Murphy had a terrific day at the plate on Saturday, going 4-for-4 and scoring a run in the Mets’ 4-3 victory over the Diamondbacks.

Murphy has done well in the early part of the season, with the four-hit effort raising his average to .315. He isn’t going to “wow” anyone with his power or speed, but he’s proving to be a more-than-solid middle infielder.

Daniel Murphy is not in Tuesday’s lineup.

It’s the first day off of the season for the 27-year-old infielder. Justin Turner is starting at second base and batting third on Tuesday night against the Astros.

Daniel Murphy went 2-for-5 with an RBI in a losing effort against the Braves on Tuesday.

The Mets struggled to get anything going on offense in this one, and were put in a 6-0 hole after the second inning. Murphy is off to a solid start to the season, hitting .279 (12-for-43) with five RBI in the early going. While unspectacular, he represents a solid middle infield option in deeper mixed leagues.

Daniel Murphy went 2-for-5 with a walk-off RBI single in a 4-3 win over the Nationals on Monday night.

This was moments after he made a nifty diving play to end the top of the ninth. There are still many who doubt whether Murphy can stick at second base or make it through a season there healthy, but he should hit enough to be relevant in most mixed leagues.

Daniel Murphy went 2-for-3 and knocked in both Mets runs in Saturday’s loss.

Murphy hasn’t played anything except second base this spring, so the Mets seem committed to sticking with him there. He’s a big injury risk, but he should be pretty useful while healthy.

Daniel Murphy told ESPN New York’s Adam Rubin that he is “preparing full throttle” to be New York’s second baseman and is “100 percent”.

Murphy has been hitting and running in preparation for spring training. He tore the MCL in his left knee in an ugly play at second base in early-August, but is expected to be ready for camp. The 26-year-old batted .320/.362/.448 with six homers, 49 RBI and an .809 OPS over 423 plate appearances this season. Murphy is currently slated to enter the 2012 season as the Mets’ starting second baseman and will have some fantasy appeal, even if he’s unlikely to replicate last year’s numbers.

Ken Gurnick of MLB.com was told by a league source that the Dodgers attempted to trade for Daniel Murphy at the Winter Meetings and may make another run a him.

Murphy, 26, hit .320 in 109 games this season after missing all of 2010 with a torn MCL in his right knee. The Dodgers would likely employ him in a platoon with outfielder Andre Ethier, who struggles mightily against left-handed pitching. It is not yet known who the Dodgers would be willing send to the Mets in return, though Gurnick notes that Tony Gwynn Jr. could be offered as a defensive specialist. Still, it’s worth mentioning that the Mets don’t have any real reason to do the deal at this point with their recent acquisition of Andres Torres.
