Dan Uggla had a strong night at the dish on Tuesday, going 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI in the Braves’ 3-1 victory over the Cubs.

Uggla came to the plate with the game tied at 1-1 in the eighth inning and delivered a crucial two-run single off Kerry Wood to put the Braves on top. The second baseman has been impressive in the early part of the season, hitting .277/.353/.420 with four homers and 19 RBI. While the average may not be sustainable, the power is definitely real.

Dan Uggla went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI in Wednesday’s 4-2 win over the Dodgers.

Both hits were singles, but the second plated the tying run in a 2-1 game in the ninth inning. The multi-hit effort was Uggla’s second in three games, while he’s now batting .264/.346/.417 after sporting a .527 OPS less than 10 days ago. Atlanta’s second baseman appears poised to avoid a repeat of his dreadful 2011 start.

Dan Uggla went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Monday’s loss to the Astros.

Uggla is now 1-for-13 (.077) with five strikeouts to begin the season. He can’t possibly be as bad as he was during the first half last year, but the Braves likely need big seasons from him and Jason Heyward if they hope to contend.

Dan Uggla went 3-for-4 with a homer, a double and three RBI in the Braves’ 9-4 win over the Mets on Friday.

The multihit game was his first since March 5, but Uggla is now up to five homers for the spring. He’ll be back in the cleanup spot for the Braves this year, though this time he’s expected to hit behind Brian McCann and ahead of Chipper Jones.

Dan Uggla homered in a second straight game Thursday against the Phillies.

Today’s blast off David Herndon probably wasn’t quite as noteworthy as yesterday’s off Stephen Strasburg. Still, it gives him three homers for the spring, which is a nice change from last year. He hit .212 with one homer last spring before turning in a terrible first half of the regular season.

Dan Uggla homered and doubled Monday in the Braves’ 10-5 win over the Astros.

Uggla spent the second half of last season hitting cleanup for the Braves, but now it looks like he’ll be moved behind Brian McCann in the order, something that figures to take a toll on his fantasy value. While McCann typically has solid enough OBPs, he’s slow as molasses, something that will cut into Uggla’s RBI numbers if the current arrangement sticks. He’d also score fewer runs.
