Cole Hamels on Monday denied having any shoulder soreness earlier this offseason.

Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro is on record as saying the team shut Hamels down from his throwing program for a couple weeks due to the soreness, so we’re not sure why Hamels is denying it. Nevertheless, it does appear to be a non-issue, as Hamels is expected to be all systems go at the start of spring training.

Cole Hamels experienced soreness around his left shoulder after a throwing session earlier this winter.

“We shut him down for a couple of weeks, but he’s fine now,” Phillies GM Ruben Amaro said Thursday. “He was being proactive more than anything else, which is good. We backed him off and slowed him down, but he’s back throwing now and doing fine. He’s had no complaints.” It doesn’t sound like a reason for concern at this point.
