Colby Rasmus went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts on Saturday and is off to a 1-for-14 start in May.

Rasmus has shown pretty good pop when he’s made contact, but he’s up to 27 strikeouts in 96 at-bats this season. The Blue Jays figure to stick with him for a few more weeks, but they’re not known for their patience with struggling youngsters.

Colby Rasmus is not in the Blue Jays’ starting lineup for Wednesday’s matinee against the Blue Jays.

He’s just getting the day off. Rajai Davis will make the start in center field and bat ninth against the left-hander Matt Harrison.

Colby Rasmus homered twice on Saturday and drove home four runs, leading the Blue Jays to a 9-5 victory over the Royals.

Rasmus finished the night 3-for-4 with three runs scored and four RBI. He had an RBI single in the Jays three run fourth inning to get things started. He added a two-run shot off of Everett Teaford in the sixth inning and a solo shot off of Kelvin Herrera in the seventh. After a slow start to the season, Rasmus is now hitting .275 (14-for-51) with three homers and nine RBI.

Colby Rasmus hit his first home run of the year in the Blue Jays loss to the Orioles on Friday.

Rasmus has struggled mightily in the early going, so it’s nice to see him contribute something productive. His solo HR was one of four that the Jays hit in the game (Yunel Escobar, Edwin Encarnacion and Kelly Johnson), but that was all the offense the Jays could muster.

Colby Rasmus struck out all three times he was up Saturday against the Phillies.

Rasmus is hitting .184 with no homers in 49 at-bats this spring. It was understandable that he struggled in his new environment after being traded to Toronto last year, but expectations will be quite a bit higher now and it looks like a lousy April could be on the way.

Blue Jays and OF Colby Rasmus avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $2.7 million contract.

MLB Trade Rumors had Rasmus projected to earn $2.3 million, so it appears his agent did a nice job here. The former top prospect batted just .173/.201/.316 with three homers, 13 RBI and a .517 OPS over 140 plate appearances for the Blue Jays after arriving at the trade deadline. He still has loads of ability, though, and turned just 25 in August.

The Royals are “looking at” Toronto’s Colby Rasmus due to concerns that Lorenzo Cain will not be able to produce against major league pitching, reports Bob Elliott of the Toronto Sun.

The Royals traded Melky Cabrera to the Giants earlier this month, seemingly clearing the way for Cain to take over in center field, but they are apparently evaluating alternatives. The 25-year-old Rasmus really struggled after being acquired from the Cardinals at the trade deadline, batting just .173/.201/.316 with three homers, 13 RBI and a .517 OPS over 140 plate appearances. We don’t see Jays’ GM Alex Anthopoulos selling low, but he has a knack for thinking outside the box.
