Chris Young’s next start in the minors will be pushed back because his wife is expected to give birth.
Young, who is working his way back from shoulder surgery, posted a 2.53 ERA and 6/2 K/BB ratio over his first two starts with High-A St. Lucie. The veteran right-hander is expected to make his next start with Triple-A Buffalo. He’s no sure thing given his injury history, but he has a chance to join the Mets’ rotation in mid-June if all goes well.

Diamondbacks activated OF Chris Young from the 15-day disabled list.
Young had been expected to spend the weekend at Triple-A Reno, but his rehab assignment went so well that the D’Backs went ahead and activated him. While they admit that his throwing might not be 100 percent, his hitting looks fine, which is all fantasy owners care about. Return him to your lineup immediately.

Diamondbacks general manager Kevin Towers said after Thursday’s game that Chris Young (shoulder) has a “pretty good chance” of returning from the disabled list Friday.
Young went 4-for-13 (.308) with a homer and seven RBI in three games with High-A Visalia and joined Triple-A Reno on Thursday. His hitting is ahead of his throwing at this point, so the D-Backs could ease him back into the lineup as the designated hitter this weekend against the Royals. The 28-year-old center fielder was hitting .410/.500/.897 with five homers and 13 RBI through 46 plate appearances before going on the disabled list in mid-April with a slight ligament tear in his right shoulder.

Chris Young (shoulder) gave up three runs over 5 2/3 innings Wednesday in his second start with High-A St. Lucie.
Young gave up seven hits while striking out two and walking none. He should make his next start with Triple-A Buffalo and could join the Mets’ rotation by early-to-mid June. Of course, given his lengthy injury history, he can’t be counted on to stay healthy.

Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said Chris Young (shoulder) “outside shot” of playing this weekend against the Royals.
Young began a rehab assignment with High-A Visalia Monday and will stay there through Wednesday before heading to Triple-A Reno. Gibson isn’t putting a timetable on how long Young will remain at Reno, but it sounds like we probably won’t see him with the D’Backs until next week. “It’s a different game … here,” Gibson said. “We?d like him to play most of the time or every day. He’s just not 100 percent yet.”
