Marrero was already rehabbing a torn left hamstring, but the shoulder injury means he might not be ready to play again for another month or two. The 23-year-old batted .248/.274/.294 with five doubles and 10 RBI in 117 plate appearances for the Nationals down the stretch last season.

Chris Marrero (hamstring) was able to field grounders Friday.

It’s the first time he’s been able to do so since tearing his left hamstring while playing in the Dominican Winter League over the offseason. While it’s good to see him progressing, Marrero is still expected to be sidelined until after the All-Star break.
