Chris Iannetta will undergo surgery on his right wrist Friday and is expected to miss 6-8 weeks.

Iannetta suffered the injury when he was hit on the wrist by a pitch on May 2, the same night he caught Jered Weaver’s no-hitter. It’s a tough blow for the Angels, who will now be without their primary catcher until late June or early July. Bobby Wilson and Hank Conger figure to split time behind the plate in the interim.

Chris Ianetta is not in the Angles lineup on Friday against the Blue Jays, due to lingering soreness and swelling in his right wrist from HBP Wednesday night.

This is the second consecutive day off for Iannetta, though it’s general soreness in the wrist and doesn’t sound like any issue with the bone. He’s listed as day-to-day for now, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see him back in the lineup on Saturday.
