Chase Headley went 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBI in Wednesday’s win over the Dodgers.

He also drew his 28th walk of the season, which is good for second in the National League behind Joey Votto. Headley sports a .254 batting mark to go along with five homers and 20 RBI on the year. He still doesn’t provide as much power as you’d like from a corner infielder, but he makes up for it somewhat with some steals and what should be a decent run total given the improvement in his plate discipline.

Chase Headley went 3-for-4 with a pair of home runs in Wednesday’s loss to the Rockies.

Headley took Juan Nicasio deep for a solo shot in the first inning before tagging him again for a two-run bomb in the sixth. Headley’s four home runs are already as many as he hit in 113 games a season ago. That either means he’s on his way to a power breakout, or has used up his power allotment for the next 60 days. The truth is likely somewhere in between. He remains a below-average, if acceptable, option at third base in deeper mixed leagues.

Chase Headley doubled three times, scored three runs and drove in another in Monday’s win over the Rockies.

It’s the first time a Padres hitter had three two-baggers in a game since August of 2010. Headley is hitting a modest .263, but he has an eight-game hitting streak going, has gone deep twice and has driven in and scored nine runs. He should be a decent corner infield option this season.

Chase Headley hit a grand slam and drew three walks in Sunday’s win over the Dodgers.

He also stole a base. Headley’s first, and thus far only, hit of the season came off Scott Elbert with the Padres leading 4-2 in the eighth inning. Although Headley is perhaps the game’s worst No. 3 hitter, he’s worth a roster spot in all formats.

Chase Headley singled and launched a solo homer Thursday against the Indians.

The Padres third baseman took Ubaldo Jimenez deep in the fourth inning for his second longball this spring. Headley is batting .304 in Cactus League play to go along with a cool 1.038 OPS. He doesn’t give you the power numbers fantasy owners desire from the hot corner, but he makes up for it a bit with what could be a nice average and double-digit steals.

The Padres announced Thursday that CEO Jeff Moorad is stepping down.

Padres president and COO Tom Garfinkel will take over Moorad’s role on an interim basis. Moorad will remain active as the team’s chairman and majority owner, and will oversee the Friars’ dealings with FOX Sports San Diego. It’s a move that shouldn’t have any sort of on-field effect.

Chase Headley (back) reported no setbacks in his Cactus League debut.

“There was no issue,” Headley said. “It was as good as I thought it would be. I wasn’t concerned but it’s always nice to go out and test it and not have anything there.” Manager Bud Black believes Headley’s back issue was a one-time occurrence and said the Padres were ”just being cautious” in the early part of their spring training schedule.

Chase Headley (back) could return to the Padres’ lineup in a few days.

Headley hasn’t played since feeling tightness in his lower back before warmups on Monday. However, the Padres are just being cautious in the early part of the Cactus League schedule.

Chase Headley missed his second straight game Tuesday with a tight lower back.

Headley attempted to get loose during stretching Tuesday morning, but his back did not respond well. “I don’t think it’s anything terribly serious by any means. But where we are right now, there’s no reason to push it,” said Headley. “I think that we will probably take a day or two and let it calm down, and hopefully I’ll be back.” The Padres will play it safe for now, but it doesn’t sound like a situation which will have an impact on his preparation for the start of the season.
