Brian McCann connected on his sixth home run of the season Tuesday, helping to lead the Braves to a 6-2 victory over Johnny Cueto and the Reds.

McCann finished the night 2-for-3 and also drew a walk. He’s only hitting .243 on the season, though he’s displayed impressive power with six homers and 21 RBI to date. He remains one of the strongest offensive catchers in the National League, and should be a lock to finish as a top five backstop in mixed fantasy leagues by season’s end.

The Braves aren’t ”overly concerned” that Brian McCann (side) will miss significant time.

“We?ll know more tomorrow,” manager Fredi Gonzalez said. “It’s up high. It’s in between the ribs so we?re not overly concerned. Sometimes if it’s really low with the oblique it’s a little different story. But we?ll know more tomorrow.” The injury is unrelated to the oblique strain that derailed McCann’s 2011 season. Backup David Ross is expected to start Saturday against the Pirates.
