Brewers signed 3B Aramis Ramirez to a three-year, $36 million contract with a mutual option for 2015.

He’ll make $6 million next season, $10 million in 2013 and $14 million in 2014 (which includes $6 million deferred) while the option has a $4 million buyout. Ramirez, 33, batted .306/.361/.510 with 26 home runs, 93 RBI and an .870 OPS over 149 games this past season with the Cubs. We’re skeptical he’ll be able to stay healthy over the life of the contract, but he was the best third baseman on the market and a far cheaper than re-signing Prince Fielder.

According to Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com, Aramis Ramirez will make just $6 million in 2012 with the Brewers.

Ramirez declined his portion of a $16 million mutual option for 2012 with the Cubs and looked to score a multi-year contract. From a financial standpoint, his decision looks dubious. Ramirez will make $10 million in 2013 and $14 million in 2014 with a $4 million buyout on a mutual option for 2015. In 2014, $6 million will be deferred. Even with the meager 2012 commitment to A-Ram, Milwaukee has little financial flexibility left with which to fill a handful of holes.

According to Bruce Levine of ESPNChicago.com, Aramis Ramirez’s contract with the Brewers includes a mutual option for a fourth year.

Ramirez has reportedly agreed to a three-year, $36 million contract. He turned down his part of a $16 million mutual option to become a free agent this offseason, so while he’ll see a dip in annual salary, this may have been his best and last chance to score another multi-year deal. The 33-year-old third baseman batted .306/.361/.510 with 26 home runs, 93 RBI and an .870 OPS in 149 games this past year for the Cubs.

Jon Heyman of SI.com reports that Aramis Ramirez will receive about $36 million over his three-year deal with the Brewers.

Ramirez declined his portion of a $16 million mutual option for 2012 with the Cubs and looked to score a multi-year contract as the best third baseman on the market. It appears as though he made a mistake, as he’ll make just $10 million per season for two years over what was already guaranteed to him in Chicago. Regardless, this is a good get for the Brewers. Ramirez, 33, posted a .871 OPS with 26 home runs and 93 RBI in 149 games this past year for the Cubs. If he stays healthy, he should approach those numbers with the Brewers.

According to ESPN Chicago’s Bruce Levine, the Brewers have signed Aramis Ramirez to a three-year deal.

No word yet on the financial terms. Ramirez, 33, registered a superb .871 OPS with 26 home runs and 93 RBI in 149 games this past year for the Cubs. He’s injury prone, but he’s also capable of raking when healthy. The Brewers will hope that he can stay active and help replace some of the offense lost in the departure of Prince Fielder.

Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel expects the Brewers to re-engage in talks next week with the agent for free agent third baseman Aramis Ramirez.

The Brewers haven’t made an offer to Ramirez yet, but owner Mark Attanasio and manager Ron Roenicke met with the veteran third baseman last week in Los Angeles. For what it’s worth, Haudricourt writes that he thinks there’s a “good chance” that they’ll sign him. Many believed that the Angels were a possible fit, but they are likely out following the high-priced additions of Albert Pujols and C.J. Wilson.

Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that the Brewers have not yet made an offer to free agent third baseman Aramis Ramirez.

He does say, however, that owner Mark Attanasio and manager Ron Roenicke met last week in Los Angeles with Ramirez. Just because a formal offer hasn’t been presented yet doesn’t mean they’re not seriously interested. A-Ram is also being courted by the Angels, but they might back out if they sign C.J. Wilson.

Aramis Ramirez has declined the Cubs’ arbitration offer.

As expected. A-Ram will land a multi-year deal with someone this offseason, with the Brewers and Angels appearing to be at the front of the pack. The Phillies have apparently backed off.

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Phillies are “backing off” their pursuit of free agent third baseman Aramis Ramirez and are no longer shopping Placido Polanco.

While Rosenthal writes that it is unrelated to the Jimmy Rollins situation, it would appear their is some increased optimism to get a deal done. As for Ramirez, he continues to draw interest from the Brewers and Angels. If the Angels somehow swoop in and land Albert Pujols at the last minute, the Brewers would be in the driver’s seat.

The agent for Aramis Ramirez said Tuesday that the Brewers are a “favorite” for his client.

A-Ram is also drawing free agent interest from the Phillies and Tigers, and it’s not too late for other teams to jump in. The 33-year-old registered a bounceback .871 OPS with 26 home runs and 93 RBI in 149 games this past year for the Cubs. He’s the top third baseman on the open market this winter and would represent a significant upgrade over Casey McGehee in Milwaukee.
