Alex Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with his fourth homer of the season in the Yankees come from behind 9-8 victory over the Tigers on Friday.
The solo shot off of Justin Verlander in the fourth inning was the 633rd of his glorious career. He drove home two and scored two runs in the game, and was at the plate when a wild pitch from Bryan Villarrel scored Derek Jeter with the game’s winning run.

After being moved up to the third spot in the order, Alex Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with a homer Friday against the Angels.
The homer gave him his first RBI in seven games this season. He also swiped his second base. Robinson Cano, meanwhile, went 0-for-3 with a walk from the cleanup spot.

The Yankees have flip-flopped Alex Rodriguez and Robinson Cano in the batting order against right-handers, with Rodriguez moving into the three-hole and Cano batting cleanup.
Manager Joe Girardi says he’ll keep it that way for the “foreseeable future,” and that he’s hoping to “make it tough on teams with two bullpen lefties.” No. 5 hitter Mark Teixeira is, of course, a switch hitter. Cano will remain the No. 3 hitter against southpaws. The move won’t have a discernible effect on either player’s fantasy value.

Alex Rodriguez doubled and stole a base in Sunday’s 3-0 loss to the Rays.
The Yanks could muster just three hits as the Rays polished off a season-opening sweep, but it was a productive series for A-Rod, who hit .300/.500/.500 while doubling twice. As long as he can stay on the field, Rodriguez should remain an elite option at third base this season.
