Alex Rios’ RBI triple off Chris Perez in the 10th inning put the White Sox ahead for good in Tuesday’s 5-3 victory over the Indians.

Rios finished the evening 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI, and also picked up his fourth stolen base of the season. After struggling early on this season, Rios has suddenly found a groove. He raised his batting average up to .294 with the three-hit effort on Tuesday night.

Alex Rios went 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBI in Sunday’s 7-4 win over the Mariners.

Rios’ two-run triple in the sixth tied the game and he then scored the go-ahead run on a sac fly. He’s bouncing back well after last season’s nightmare, as he’s currently riding a ten-game hit streak and has his average at .333 on the year.

Alex Rios is not in Wednesday’s lineup against the Indians.

We’re assuming it’s just a routine day off for Rios, who is 2-for-13 with a homer so far this season. Kosuke Fukudome will make the start in right field and bat seventh against right-hander Justin Masterson.

Alex Rios was scratched from Thursday’s Cactus League lineup with a slight strain of his left Achilles.

Rios wanted to play, so it doesn’t sound like anything major. Consider him day-to-day right now.

Alex Rios went 2-for-2 with an RBI, run scored and walk in Monday’s loss to the A’s.

Both hits were singles. It’s a start for Rios, who is still batting just .214 through his first 14 spring at-bats. Even if he heats during Cactus League play, let someone else take the plunge in 10-to-12 team mixed leagues.

Alex Rios went 0-for-3 on Sunday, leaving him 1-for-12 to start the spring.

Rios isn’t exactly staking his claim to the third spot in the order for the White Sox. That’s where Robin Ventura would like to put him, but as bad as Rios was last season, he needs to be forced to earn it.

White Sox manager Robin Ventura is leaning towards batting Alex Rios third this season.

That’s where Rios will be batting on Monday in Chicago’s Cactus League opener. “I like Alex there,” Ventura said. “He’s been swinging it great. You look at everything he has, he would be that guy who fits that spot. That’s where we’re going. I trust him.” Some fantasy owners won’t forgive Rios for the .227/.265/.348 line he put up in 2011, but he’ll surely bounce back at least somewhat in 2012. Rios dealt with a minor toe injury early in the season and a minor hand injury late in the year, explaining some of his struggles. A permanent move up to third in the lineup would also improve his fantasy stock.

White Sox general manager Kenny Williams said injuries were partly to blame for Alex Rios’ struggles this past season.

“Alex before last year was a .280 career hitter, 20-plus homers, around 40 stolen bases. Last year was down offensively and defensively, but people don?t realize he had some injuries that slowed him down,?? said Williams. “He still has the talent to perform. Hope it comes out again or somebody else is gonna be playing.” Rios dealt with a minor toe injury early in the season and a minor hand injury late in the year, but perhaps he was more beat up than the Sox were letting on. Fantasy owners will have a hard time forgiving him for the .227/.265/.348 line he put up in 2011, but he’ll surely bounce back at least somewhat in 2012.
