Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine indicated Monday that Adrian Gonzalez could see more playing time in right field.

It’s one of many scenarios being discussed by the Red Sox as they consider keeping both Kevin Youkilis and Will Middlebrooks on the active roster. A-Gone getting outfield eligibility would be helpful for fantasy owners, but we doubt they would do something that drastic. The more likely scenario is that Middlebrooks goes down to the minors and starts playing the outfield before returning to the majors.

Adrian Gonzalez is starting in right field Saturday.

It allows the Red Sox to get David Ortiz in the lineup. Gonzalez has just three career appearances in right field, but isn’t considered a liability defensively. He’s a three-time gold glove winner at first base.

Adrian Gonzalez plated all three of the Red Sox runs in Wednesday’s 4-3 loss to the Royals.

A-Gone cleared the bases with a fourth-inning double off of Bruce Chen. The multi-RBI night was Gonzalez’s first in 13 contests, though his homer-less streak is now at 18 games. Still, he boasts a .279/.341/.393 triple slash through Boston’s first 30 games. The power will come.

Adrian Gonzalez was a surprising disappointment in Sunday’s 17-inning contest against the Orioles, going hitless in eight at-bats.

Despite coming off back-to-back three-hit efforts, on this day he was the only Boston starter not to record at least one hit. He also stranded eight runners and dropped his OPS to .701.

Adrian Gonzalez had a solid day at the plate against the Orioles on Friday, going 3-for-6 with a run scored.

Manager Bobby Valentine moved Gonzalez into the third spot in the lineup in an effort to get him going, and it appeared to pay off at least for one night. The three-hit effort raises his average to .265 on the season, though he still only has two homers and 15 RBI. At some point, his bat will come around, and he?ll be sitting with a .300 average and 30 homers by season’s end.

Adrian Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles to lead the Red Sox anemic offensive attack on Saturday against the Tigers.

Gonzalez is off to a nice 3-for-6 start to the season, though he’s still looking for his first extra base hit and RBI. He?ll be in the discussion for the AL MVP award before the season is through.

Adrian Gonzalez went 2-for-2 with a walk Monday, giving him hits in five straight games.

Gonzalez’s spring average is up to .357, but he’s without a homer in 40 at-bats. It’s probably nothing of concern, but it is curious given the way he’s been talking about how his surgically repaired shoulder feels stronger this year.

Adrian Gonzalez is expected to see playing time in the outfield this spring in Grapefruit League games.

Gonzalez made two starts in right field last year for Boston. Had he started three more, he would have gained outfield eligibility in some fantasy leagues. It’s something to dream on as we begin a new season.
