Marissa Macchio

Born in Staten Island, New York, Marissa Macchio realized that her passions in life were slightly different than other girls her age. She grew up playing all other sports, but it wasn’t until her first boyfriend that she discovered her true love. Her then-boyfriend was a huge New York Yankees fan and it soon sparked her love affair with the game. Over time, she began to understand baseball and her love for it grew; watching games just wasn’t enough anymore. Marissa became engrossed in baseball past and present and found herself reading every book she could get her hands on, soaking up as much as she could. She lives for Yankee baseball and she is fairly certain pinstripes run through her veins.

Since discovering her love of baseball, Marissa believes she’s been a far cry from most young women her age. Although there are many female fans out there, she stands out among the crowd. Her intense passion for America’s pastime makes it apparent that baseball is her first love. If asked about her perfect vacation she would describe her trips to Tampa each March to see the Yankees Grapefruit League games; if asked what makes her heart flutter it would be the promenade walking up to Yankee stadium, a site that she visits as often as possible, including a memorable 2010 Opening Day where she saw her heroes receive their well-deserved 2010 World Series championship rings. Without denying other female fans, it’s hard to imagine any other answering those questions so sincerely.

Marissa is currently enrolled in college in upstate New York, a few hours outside of New York City. She is studying journalism and will stop at nothing to achieve her dream as a sports journalist. Also, Marissa would love to travel the country to visit other historical baseball stadiums. She has been to four already, obviously including both Yankee Stadiums. She knows that number will only continue to grow along with her knowledge of the game and her blossoming writing career.
