White Sox

Alejandro De Aza went 2-for-5 as the White Sox finished off a sweep of the Cubs on Sunday.

De Aza is batting .288/.368/.425 with three home runs, eight steals and 13 RBI in 42 games this season. He makes for a fine third fantasy outfielder in mixed leagues.

Kosuke Fukudome (White Sox)

5/21/12 9:17 am

Kosuke Fukudome is batting just .175/.286/.200 through 49 plate appearances this year for the White Sox.

Fukudome has no home runs, no stolen bases and just four RBI. The 35-year-old corner outfielder is far from fantasy relevant and may be in danger of losing his 25-man roster spot if the struggles continue.

Jake Peavy (White Sox)

5/20/12 5:15 pm

Jake Peavy bounced back from a rough start his last time out in Sunday’s 6-0 win over the Cubs, allowing just three hits across 6 1/3 scoreless innings.

Peavy struck out seven and walked two in improving to 5-1. Peavy has now been quality in eight of his first nine 2012 starts, and has a 2.39 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 55/11 K/BB ratio to show for it. He’ll get the Indians at home next Saturday.

Tyler Flowers (White Sox)

5/20/12 5:10 pm

Tyler Flowers doubled and homered in Sunday’s Interleague win over the Cubs.

Making just his ninth start of the season, Flowers delivered his third and fourth extra-base hits. Flowers has the talent to eventually be a factor in mixed fantasy leagues, but still buried behind A.J. Pierzynski, he’ll be off the radar for the duration of 2012.

Paul Konerko (White Sox)

5/20/12 7:37 am

Paul Konerko (eye) could be ready to return to the lineup Tuesday.

Konerko has been cleared of any fractures around his eye, but it’s still swollen more than halfway shut. The White Sox are idle Monday, and the feeling is that the first baseman could be ready to roll Tuesday against the Twins. “It’s just a matter of getting the swelling down,?? said Konerko. “There’s no damage, no fractures, no problems with vision other than just kind of seeing the swelling when I look out. So as soon as we get that out of the way, I?ll be good to go.??

John Danks (White Sox)

5/19/12 9:25 pm

John Danks tossed 6 1/3 innings of shutout ball in Saturday night’s 7-4 win over the Cubs.

Danks yielded just three hits to the Cubs’ weak lineup, fanning four batters while issuing only one walk. He’s struggled at times this season but is still a worthy fantasy option in the right matchup. The left-hander will face the American League Central-leading Indians next.

Adam Dunn (White Sox)

5/19/12 9:17 pm

Adam Dunn hit his 13th home run of the season in Saturday’s interleague victory over the Cubs.

Dunn’s solo blast into the right field bleachers put the White Sox up 5-0 in the top of the eighth inning, and they would finish the frame up 7-0. The 32-year-old Dunn is enjoying a heck of a bounceback season, batting .246/.390/.585 with 13 home runs and 31 RBI in 41 games played.

Paul Konerko (White Sox)

5/19/12 3:40 pm

Paul Konerko (eye) is expected to miss ”more than a couple games.”

Konerko’s eye is reportedly ”swollen shut,” and it may be awhile before the swelling subsides. Preliminary tests cleared him of any further issues, however. For now, continue to view him as day-to-day. Konerko is scheduled to be reevaluated prior to Saturday’s game.

Brent Morel (White Sox)

5/19/12 3:17 pm

Brent Morel (back) confirmed he’s a candidate for the disabled list.

Morel was scratched from Friday’s lineup due to a reoccurring back injury, and missed a handful of games earlier this month. Clearly, the issue isn’t behind him. Eduardo Escobar will continue to fill in at third base.

Paul Konerko (White Sox)

5/19/12 2:34 pm

Paul Konerko (eye) is not in Saturday’s lineup

As expected. Konerko left Friday’s game after being hit above the eye by a pitch from Cubs’ right-hander Jeff Samardzija. He’s scheduled to be reevaluated Saturday and could return to the lineup without missing much time.
