Tim Lincecum (Giants)

Tim Lincecum (thumb) feels fine following a home-plate collision during Sunday’s game.

Lincecum suffered a hyperextended left thumb while covering home plate Sunday when A’s outfielder Collin Cowgill knocked him over. He’s wearing a wrap on the thumb, but is permitted to participate in all baseball activities. He should be fine for his next scheduled start Friday against the Marlins.

Angel Pagan (Giants)

Updating a previous item, Angel Pagan is out of Monday’s lineup due to illness.

He should be good to go in the next day or so. Gregor Blanco will make the start in center field Monday while Nate Schierholtz plays right.

Tim Lincecum (Giants)

5/20/12 6:52 pm

Giants manager Bruce Bochy decided to play it safe by pulling Tim Lincecum following a home-plate collision on Sunday.

Lincecum hurled a wild pitch in the fourth inning and scurried home to cover the plate. Collin Cowgill slid into home head-first and knocked over Lincecum, who was on his knees to catch a throw from Buster Posey. Lincecum’s left hand and wrist were examined by a trainer and he was allowed to finish the inning. Having already thrown 90 pitches, Bochy pulled him prior to the fifth inning. Lincecum gave up four runs on five hits and three walks, pushing his ERA to 6.04. Though he appears to have escaped without an injury, we’d suggest benching him in mixed formats for the coming week.

Tim Lincecum (Giants)

5/20/12 6:32 pm

Tim Lincecum could make it just four innings in Sunday’s loss to the A’s, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks.

Lincecum fanned five as his ERA climbed back above 6.00 to 6.04. That ugly number accompanies a 1.59 WHIP and 53/25 K/BB ratio compiled through 47 2/3 innings. Perhaps most shocking of all, Lincecum has turned in just one quality start in nine outings. His next chance to get on track will come Friday in Miami. You’re probably best off leaving him benched for that one.

Melky Cabrera (Giants)

5/20/12 6:25 pm

Melky Cabrera went 4-for-4 with a double in Sunday’s loss to the A’s.

So much for the Melk Man’s toe injury. Since sitting out of Wednesday’s loss to the Cardinals, Cabrera has gone 9-for-16 (.563). The hot streak has upped his season triple slash to an elite .353/.396/.497.

Aubrey Huff (Giants)

5/20/12 2:23 pm

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Aubrey Huff will get a start — likely at first base — sometime during the team’s upcoming road trip.

Huff has only pinch-hit since being activated from the DL on May 7 following a bout with an anxiety disorder. He seems likely to remain more of a role player at this point and shouldn’t be owned in fantasy leagues.

Ryan Theriot (Giants)

Ryan Theriot (elbow) is expected to be activated from the disabled list Thursday.

It’s the first day he’s eligible. Theriot is expected to battle Emmanuel Burriss for playing time upon activation. “It’ll be competitive. I’ll leave it at that,” Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. “We’ll go with the hot hand. Theriot has a resume and a history of hitting.”

Angel Pagan (Giants)

5/19/12 7:46 pm

Angel Pagan went 2-for-4 and two RBI Saturday in the win over the A’s.

Pagan is working on a 10-game hitting streak since his 20-game streak was snapped on May 7. He’s batting a nice .304/.353/.462 on the season and has drawn six walks in his last two games after walking only six times all season to that point.

Ryan Vogelsong (Giants)

5/19/12 7:41 pm

Ryan Vogelsong dominated a punch-less Oakland lineup Saturday, allowing only one hit and one walk over seven shutout innings.

He struck out five in the 4-0 victory. Since making his season debut in mid-April, Vogelsong has been a valuable fantasy commodity. The 34-year-old right-hander has a 2.27 ERA, 1.17 and 34/20 K/BB ratio in 47 2/3 innings over his first seven starts this season.
