Hanson was in his first year of arbitration eligibility. The right-hander’s velocity and results took a downturn in 2012 as he dealt with shoulder issues, posting a 4.48 ERA over 31 starts. He’ll hope to bounce back for the Angels in 2013.

C.J. Wilson is on track to be fully recovered from elbow surgery by the opening of spring training.

Wilson had bone chips removed from his left elbow shortly after the end of the 2012 regular season. He has enjoyed a fairly normal winter to this point and should again carry decent value as a fantasy starter in 2013.

Albert Pujols (Angels)

1/12/13 11:18 pm

According to Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com, Albert Pujols will participate in the World Baseball Classic for his native Dominican Republic, provided that his surgically-repaired knee continues to feel good.

Pujols underwent a very minor surgery in early October in order to relieve the pain that he played through during the 2012 season. He feels great so far and hasn’t suffered any setbacks in his recovery. He could still opt to test the knee out during spring training before committing to the team, but all signs point to him playing.
