Evan Gattis (Braves)

David O’Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the Braves could give Evan Gattis a shot at the left field job if they don’t end up trading for Justin Upton.

Having taken four year off from the game before being drafted, Gattis is 26 and has yet to play above Double-A, but he’s batted .308/.374/.546 while hitting 40 homers over the last two seasons. He also blasted a whopping 16 longballs over 195 at-bats during Venezuelan Winter League play, where teammates began calling him “The White Bear.” It seems unlikely that Gattis, who is a catcher by trade with limited experience in the outfield, would be handed the starting job in left, but he’s arguably be the most intriguing of those that could fight for the job.
