Royals declined RHP Joakim Soria’s $8 million option for 2013.
Soria will receive a $750,000 buyout and hit free agency. Both sides have expressed in reaching a new deal, but Soria will likely be a popular name on the open market, even coming off Tommy John surgery. Barring any setbacks, the 28-year-old right-hander should be ready to go around the start of the 2013 season.
