Astros declined C Chris Snyder’s $4 million option for 2013.
Snyder will get a $500,000 buyout and test free agency. It’s not a surprise to see the Astros decline, as $4 million is a hefty price for an unproductive backup catcher. The 31-year-old backstop batted just .176/.295/.308 with seven homers, 24 RBI and a .602 OPS in 258 plate appearances this year.
