Lance Lynn picked up the loss in Game 5 of the NLCS against the Giants on Friday, surrendering four unearned runs on four hits in his 3 2/3 innings of work.
Lynn struck out six and walked two in the abbreviated outing. He carried a no-hitter into the fourth inning, where everything fell apart on him. Marco Scutaro and Pablo Sandoval started the frame off with singles ahead of a Buster Posey strikeout. Hunter Pence then hit a slow tapper back to the mound that Lynn threw off of second base and into center field while trying to force Sandoval, allowing Scutaro to score. Brandon Crawford then added a two-out, two-run single, and Barry Zito chipped in a bunt single that chased Lynn from the game. Should the Cardinals advance to the World Series, Lynn would likely remain in the rotation and get the opportunity to redeem his poor efforts in the NLCS.
