Madison Bumgarner lasted just 3 2/3 innings in Sunday’s NLCS Game 1 loss to the Cardinals.
It was another disappointing game for Bumgarner, as he’s now allowed a combined 10 runs in two playoff starts. After a perfect first inning, Bumgarner gave up a two-run shot to David Freese in the second, and later back-to-back doubles to Daniel Descalso and Pete Kozma. A second two-run homer to Carlos Beltran in the fourth inning was his ultimate undoing. The Giants’ starting pitching has struggled in October. They haven’t had a quality start in six postseason games.
