CC Sabathia pitched an outstanding ballgame against the Orioles in a decisive Game 5 of the ALDS on Friday, allowing only one run on four hits over a complete game victory.
Sabathia racked up nine strikeouts in the game while walking just two. He took a one-hit shutout into the eighth inning, where the Orioles offense came to life. After a single by Matt Wieters and a walk to Manny Machado, Lew Ford got the O’s on the board with a one-out RBI single. After a wacky infield single by Robert Andino loaded the bases, Sabathia battled back to strike out Nate McLouth and get an easy ground out from J.J. Hardy. Sabathia is now likely looking at an intriguing matchup against Justin Verlander in Game 3 of the ALCS.
